I am funny, social, and like an adventure..

My Self-Summary

I have tons of great friends to hang out with for the girl's nights out. I'm on this site because I'd like to meet someone of the opposite sex who would be interested in catching a movie, checking out a play, seeing a funky little band, or a enjoying decent meal in a hide-away restaurant. Y'know, talk, dance, blow off some steam.

I am not looking for love, and I am not looking a long-term relationship right now. I am recently divorced after being married for 1/2 of my life. I am just beginning to consider myself a single woman, and I'm new to this whole dating thing. Not even sure if I'm ready to embrace the word "dating" yet. Sounds so... Single.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently, I am taking care of my handicapped sister. Its a new job for me. I'm learning a lot of stuff I wish I had known before our mom passed away two years ago.

I also have a regular 8-5 job that pays me $$. Needless to say, my free time is usually spent catching up on sleep. I'm realizing that I need to find some balance and add some play.

A chihuahua owns me. I've never had children. But I love to play with them. If you have kids, better get the crayons out if I'm around, cuz there's colorin to be done!

I love to travel. I plan to end up an ex-pat living in Asia-- hopefully teaching English or working with refugees; or just running an B&B in a backpacker's village someplace where I can wear a sarong all day.

I am a member of Toastmasters International. I love researching and making speeches about obscure things. My last speech was about turkey vultures. Yes, I'm cool like that.

I’m really good at

I'm a good cook. I hope you like cake. I'm good at cake.

I have a really odd sense of humor. I expect anyone around me to be offended or confused until they figure me out. If you can't figure out if I'm being sarcastic or serious, you probably should stop reading right now. You will get upset with me. There will be fights. I've seen it happen.

(GOD....I can't believe how long its taking me to complete this profile!)

The first things people usually notice about me

My humor. And my hair. And sometimes my pedicure, if the gals at Lucy Nails did a really good job--and they usually do.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:
Here's a few of my favorite reads: Tales of A Female Nomad; The Secret Life of Bees; Good Omens; American Gods; All of the Diskworld books; Wicked; Anam Cara, the Book of Celtic Wisdom; The Natural History of The Senses. I love science fiction/fantasy. Favorite authors: Pratchett, Gaiman, Adams. Its gotta be a little bit quirky with magic, fairies, elves, maybe some robots, etc.

Movies:
sci fi is always the first choice (Have you seen Dark City? wooaaahhh!) Comedies, Independent films, and oh my god, the old flicks with Katherine Hepburn, Myrna Loy, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, all those guys. -- see: You Can't Take It With You with Lionel Barrymore. good flick.

TV: Didn't ask, but you should know. I like to watch TV. I will burn out a remote quickly. My current faves are Heroes, LOST, Simpsons, Family Guy, Dr. Who, House, The Big Bang Theory, Warehouse 13.

Music I DONT like: rap (gives me a headache), jazz (makes me sleepy...reeeeealy sleepy). I will see an opera but won't listen to it (confuzzles me).

Music I DO like: Indy bands, Rock-A-Billy, Folk music, the geek Genre (your assignment: YouTube Jonathan Coultan or Paul and Storm); all sorts of rock from 60's to current stuff. Techno, Trance, International music. Live performances in a small intimate venue makes me very happy.

Food: Thai food, barbeque, big-fat-juicy hamburgers, anything potato, Mellow Mushroom, Indian food, Mediterranean food, Soul food, big salads, OK OK -- just about everything. ... I'm NOT a huge fan of sushi, but I can get thru the Rusan's buffet just fine. Just the bait's gotta be cooked. Oh. and organ meat? Gross.

The six things I could never do without

my cell phone
facebook (yes, seriously addicted)
a bottle of water
comfy pajamas
lip gloss
a good cry

I spend a lot of time thinking about

you really dont want to know.
we'll talk.

On a typical Friday night I am

heh!
If I'm not on Facebook (Twitter, YoVille, vSide, or Second Life), I'll be out with fellow humans. And we will be drinking.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I've hired a housekeeper to dust my house; and it was bad. Very bad...
.....*sigh* I love my housekeeper. She is awesome.

You should message me if

you want some company for a few hours, or if you hear that a good band is playing at the EARL. I'm ok with ordering up chinese take-out and staying in to watch a tv show or a movie.

PLEASE DON'T MESSAGE ME IF I am old enough to be your mother (or your mother's younger and sexier sister).... I am not a cougar.
