My self-summary Propose an edit

Hmmm. To summarize a life in a small cage of whiteness. Very well, but with the understanding that most of the sage and saffron will have to be omitted leaving a necessarily bland dish. I am a product of my father's design(mother mostly awol) and his design was strict, demanding, and perfectionistic. His plan for the ideal child included: absolute honesty, perfect grades, no mistakes etc. etc. Children being what they are (impressionable) many of these traits are still with me today and for the most part I'm glad he imparted them. I like honesty, integrity, intelligence,and competence but over the years I've come to value creativity, artistry, and imagination much more highly. Understanding this duality is to understand much of my life as it is today. Emotionally speaking I did not have many good role models when young. Emotions. They're all inside in the right amounts and places they just need a little more encouragement sometimes to reveal themselves. I appreciate openness in others and tend to respond in kind. To be cont.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Right now I work in the retail area which gives me all the benefits people expect from such a 9-5 mental suicide. I also am getting a little better at trading stocks online-- there's a pursuit that will teach you a lot about yourself and your emotions.

My slender physique. Then,minutes later,that I'm also somewhat tall, then, many minutes later, that there's much more to me than being slender.

Books: Narcissus and Goldmund(Hesse); Steppenwolf(Hesse); Generation of Vipers(Wylie}; Godel, Escher, Bach(Hofstadter); Slaughterhouse-Five(Vonnegut); The Rants(Miller); Diet for a New America(Robbins);The Way of Chuang Tzu(Merton); Thoreau's Journals(Shepard); The Little Prince(Exupery);The Book of Disquiet(Pessoa). I don't tend to appreciate too much modern fiction but I have a wide variety of reading interests.

Movies:Hmmmmm. Let's see. Again, recent ones, not to many favs. Here goes: Casablanca, Psycho(the original), Good Will Hunting, A Beautiful Mind, Dances With Wolves, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly(great music), Sleepless in Seattle, Phenomenon, When Harry Met Sally, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, I Robot, Favorite Genres: Sci-fi, Romantic comedies, Westerns

Music-- Don't appreciate: Country, Rap, Opera, Disco. Do appreciate: Classical(Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, Mozart, Tchaikovsky); Blues ; Jazz; Classic Rock/Pop (Fleetwood Mac, Asia, Pink Floyd, U2, The Tubes, Enigma, ELP, Traffic, Dylan, Hendrix, Sade, The Cars, The Doors, Led Zep, Flock of Seagulls, Allman Brothers, Paul Simon, Sting, etc.(typers cramp).

Food: One of those envied/hated people who can eat anything and gain nothing. This may seem a divine gift from a woman's perspective but from mine, having the metabolism of a crack-addicted hummer doesn't exactly impress the ladies. At any rate I do eat a lot but try to keep it healthy (vegetarian). My particular favorites are Mexican, Chinese, and Italian cuisines. I wish Ice Cream was a cuisine then I could in some small way justify my (past?)addiction to it.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

Being introspective I spend a lot of time pondering on the consequences of my actions, past and present; but also on why certain people I know have behaved the way they have. I may have missed my calling as a psychologist. I also continue to ponder on unanswerable philosophical dead ends such as: the meaning of-- life, humans, the universe, okcupid, my answers or even the meaning of the meaning of life, humans... Such are the hazards of a mind such as this one.
