I am intelligent, outgoing, and funny.

My Self-Summary

I'm a PhD student studying dinosaurs: I get asked "Like Ross from Friends?" on average once a month. As well as studying long-dead animals I also like the usual types of things such as going to the cinema (I particularly like films that my friends would describe as pretentious), reading, and going to see indie-rock bands (Animal Collective, TV On The Radio....). I'm also a big fan of Peep Show and pretty much everything Chris Morris does.

I also really like to travel, which is one of the best advantages of my job - getting to explore remote places in South Africa and Inner Mongolia for example. I'm fond of trying new food both in restaurants and at home, and am not a bad cook myself. Travelling means i've tried some exotic food around the world, but it also means i've had to experience the Chinese 100-year egg and Slovakian food listed merely as 'Secret of the Chief' which, despite eating, still don't know whether it was meat or vegetable. The phrase 'what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger' has never been tested quite so rigorously!

I’m really good at

I make a great paella and in general I can cook.

I'm pretty good (maybe not really good) at organising events/nights out.

Oh, and I'm technically really good at studying dinosaurs but I'm not sure how useful a life-skill that actually is :)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A few of my favourite books: Midnight's Children; Cloud Atlas; 1984; The Selfish Gene; Guns, Germs & Steel; War & Peace (yes, I have actually read it!); Catcher In The Rye; On The Road

Some of my favourite movies: Wizard Of Oz; Deer Hunter; Vertigo; New World; Orphee; Manchurian Candidate (original, not the crappy remake); Ran

Music: Current favourites include Animal Collective and TV On The Radio. I guess I'm a indie/Pitchforkmedia kinda guy but I like a lot of older music such as Bowie, Tom Waits and 70's Beach Boys...

I like pretty much all food. I'm currently working my way through the animal kingdom.

The six things I could never do without

Some sort of music-playing device, be it mp3-player, walkman or a set of spoons...

Food would be greatly missed...

The other four will have to wait for now...

On a typical Friday night I am

I usually go out for drinks with friends from work and then basically see where the night takes me...

You should message me if

...you want to...
