My self-summary
*UPDATE*
I've decided to do a serious revamp of my profile. And in 'serious' I mean actually being serious about connecting online with people and no longer letting this be the tail end of a joke, or the residual leavings of a thought experiment long past it's prime.

I'm intelligent, educated, friendly, respectful and curious. I would like to experience some types of new activities with people of a likewise explorative inclination. I believe that too many people are much too guided by what other people say or think about them. People should be able to express their feelings and develop themselves as people without interference. For the most part I don't trouble others and do not like others troubling me. Most of all, I'm here to meet interesting, sincere and curious people for discussing about life, the world, and intellectual topics of interest.

I like to be outdoors and physically active, it would be enjoyable to find someone who can appreciate trying new things as well as traveling and random adventures. I've traveled around the world, experienced a lot of things both good and bad. Right now I am back in school, adding to my education. I never want to stop learning, building up, and pushing it to the next level. If you feel the same way, we will generally get along. I see no point in wasting my time with those who are content with settling in life. I will fill more of this out as I see fit. For now, I am more curious about what is out there.

I'll be blunt, I'm kind of an asshole and I'm not very sociable except in the right company. Right now in my life I'm concerned with making the appropriate moves to improve my well-being; including my finances as well as spiritually, and planning a prosperous future. Business is my current focus, and the best course of action right now as always, is business before pleasure. I'm really not looking for a SO right now, but depending on who I encounter on here or offline I'm willing to make an exception for Ms. Right-Now and see where it goes. I'm just being honest, full disclosure and all that.

I know that sounds strange or down-right stupid on a site like this but I mainly use my profile as a way to help my friends evaluate individuals they may be potentially interested in and give them my honest appraisal and opinion, only upon request.
New friends on the other hand, are always welcome. ;)
What I’m doing with my life
I was working on contracts for various corporate and government interests, definitely getting a lot of gov't work lately, I'm a former Marine and I'm currently in the ANG. But enough about work. We work to live, not live to work right?

I'm back to picking up different skills and interests I had before, that very real and practical, but ultimately mundane concerns; had me put on hold. Things like training in martial arts, particularly Ninjustu, the Hidden Path School. I finally found a real sensei to learn from in the States so I'm glad to be able to continue with a passion of mine.

I'm also planning to start learning salsa and maybe..MAYBE ballroom dancing. And finally finish my training to get my private pilot's license (I'm halfway there, all the book-work's done!) and get my certification for Aviation Mechanic and my FAA and FCC GROL license. Yeah I know that all sounds like gibberish but bare with me.

And last but not least I'm planning to go back to school once I get done with traveling for business and hopefully during the off-time dust my passport off and get some traveling in, I want to see Tokyo again and maybe Turkey on the return trip. I hope the lights stay on this time. Hey, no offense to any Turks reading this, but if you've been to Incirlik you know what I'm talking about.

UPDATE*

I'm back in school for Engineering Sciences, ah, as my mother once said, "...you could have all the skills and life experience in the world but without that piece of paper..."
I’m really good at
I'm good at picking up things very quickly, my life has mostly been a trial-by-fire.
I'm a ever-changing self-correcting learning computer. Like Skynet, only not evil. I'm a living bag of tricks, a Jack-Of-All-Trades and a master of some. I like learning and absorbing information constantly and I like practicing those skills; anything from aviation, electronics, martial arts, modern art, mechanics, nature and survivalism, to philosophy and sports.
The first things people usually notice about me
My chocolate complexion. Either that or my shoulders, they're broad and some people think I'm a football player.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Dark Tower series by Stephen King
Hyperspace and the 4th Dimension by Michio Kaku
And a lot of others, like the Ringworld Saga by Larry Niven.

Those 'new-fangled' moving picture talkies: Comedies! Also anything setin the 18th and 19th century like Hornblower,
Napoleon and boring crap like that. James bond!

Real Horror movies, not stupid 'Let's-run-but-I'm-not-really-trying-to-get-away, because-I'm-going-to-trip-on-this-rock-and-hit-my-head-and-the-killer-will-get-me' stuff.
Action flicks, Mindless shoot'em ups. Shoot'em ups with a little bit of flair and a veneer of intellectuallity, like V for Vendetta for instance.

Metropolis, Eden Log, Flight, and many others.

Oh and movies with ExPL0SIoNS!, because humans are so fascinated by them and shiny things, and I'm fascinated in their fascination..

TV: The Walking Dead(But who doesn't?), Breaking Bad(Sometimes. I'm not current.), Fringe, I really don't watch that much tv. Maybe The Misfits on Hulu.

Music: Jazz, Hip-Hop (Wu-TANG 4EVA!) and classical, soul, and whatever sounds good. Wu-Tang, Method Man, Notorious BIG, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Radiohead, The Seatbelts, Dvorak, Beethoven, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Kayne West, and Lupe Fiasco..just to name a few.

I really have no preferences if it sounds good, even if I've never heard it before or don't know the genre.

Oh, and a shout-out to NPR!
The six things I could never do without
Books, sunlight, family, New things to think about. Freedom, I couldn't live in a cage or prison. And a sixth..my friends, but these are not in order of significance to my life or sanity.

EXPLOOOSIIIOOOOONNNNNS!*INSERT OLD SPICE COMMERCIAL*

Oh, and water. I'm made of a bunch of that stuff, but I hear Gatorade is better.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The world, how small it is...and where I want to go next.
The above, as well as my place in things, truly I make my own place, but where I want to go constantly changes..
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends where I'm at, either wandering the city looking for something new, or out of town doing the same.

Maybe watching John Legend perform at his old alma mater, or seeing Ghostface live in Portland. Or even just running the streets of Philadelphia bar-hopping and then seeing Wynton Marsalis performing at the Univ. of Penn, getting a slice of pizza at Lorenzo's (Damn! It's gone!), a cheesteak at Abner's or Genos, walking along Kelly Drive near the river, and coming home to watch a movie before crashing out.

*Results not typical for a Friday night! Consult with your doctor if this seems unrealistic. Dramatization: Names and Places have been changed to protect the innocent, illustrated events may or may not have happened!*
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Yes, the most private thing I'd ever admit, EVER?! On the internet, with anonymous strangers... is that the Aurora Borealis, The Northern Lights, are localized entirely in my kitchen!

If you get the reference you get a prize, Promise! And NO you MAY NOT see the Northern Lights in my kitchen, they are not the prize, they're all mine!

I'm looking for a woman, a lady, a friend for starters, who is upbeat and will compliment my life; someone who can roll with the punches and not lose themselves in the process. I love a woman who can hold her own in conversation, who asserts herself and trusts her instincts.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–34
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You're feeling up to unexpected conversational twists and tangents. And you're genuine and enjoy the company of genuine people.
You read all that shit up there. I'm not kidding, if you did, you're a CHAMP! ;)
