I'm a multiple transplant, moved to Chicago via Upstate New York
via Boston, from Vermont, starting from California.
I've spent now most of my time in academic research,
growing cells and making proteins, most of them glowing.
I try to be a decent human being, and to learn as much as I
can.
I probably have a whiff of chlorine about me all the time from
the pool... but I haven't bothered to confirm that one...
I fucking love plaid.

Doing the grunt work in research while trying to cultivate my artistic/musical sides. I was hoping camping would have been happening more this summer, but only one trip so far...

Simpsons/Futurama/MST3K references for any occasion. 1-4-5 and the pentatonic scale. Drawing simple cartoons (but not so much with any sort of stories, or dialogue... I really should start working on that...) Taking pictures of cells. Beard growing, that photo is after just three weeks!

Glasses and brand new beard probably. Of course name usually ends up being a topic of conversation when I first meet someone.

Well, obviously, Simpsons (classic episodes only) Futurama, MST3k. Dr. Who, Twin Peaks, Party Down, Parks and Rec as well. Anything the Cohen Brothers, Or Kurosawa, Sometimes Terry Gilliam, Paul Thomas Anderson... this could go a while.

Recently got sucked into the Foundation trilogy, and I've always had a soft spot for Philip K Dick. Hell, I might as well list the sci fi standards here (Enders Game, Dune, Stranger in a Strange Land, H.P. Lovecraft). 100 Years of Solitude, Grapes of Wrath, bunch of other stuff I was fortunate enough to have been assigned in high school. Slaughterhouse 5, Metamorphosis. I recently decided to read Moby Dick (partly inspired by my decision to grow this Gregory Peck Ahab beard), and HOLY SHIT!
And pie. Specifically Hoosier Mama Pie Company pies, which, if you haven't had, you are missing out on something PHENOMENAL.

Swimming. Tends to not be so crowded on friday so I don't have to worry about being smacked by some inconsiderate jerk who doesn't know how to circle swim... Or out drinking with labmates, depends on the week.

I get maybe a little TOO much enjoyment out of counting and wrapping my spare change for deposit...

You can have a conversation based soley around Simpsons or MST3K quotes (suggested, not required). You have story ideas that I could draw for. You can teach me to be a better guitar player. You want to discuss my theory that Ahab and Fedallah are photo negatives of Ishmael and Qeequeg, and whether or not the Pequod can be interpreted as a metaphor for an individual. Or if you feel like it, who am I to stop you?
