My self-summary
HAH. Where is the J. Peterman editing crew when you need them.

I have spent more years in school than most people have been alive. I have not been fanatic about many things other than my work and my daughter. I could have been one of the original Burning Man participants, but when I initially heard the project described, I couldn't figure out why anyone would build a wooden man in order to burn him. Yet another lost opportunity.
Summary: Curious, willing to suffer for academic achievement; loyal loving mother; involved with artists but too practical.

As a kid I loved going to summer camp. I keep recovering my mother's sofa because I can't get rid of it--it is the perfect place to take a nap or read a book. I live in a house in the trees and I might remodel a kitchen one more time but it is unlikely. I use my Vitamix for making dog food instead of green juices.
Summary: prefers being in nature; finally has a comfortable home that really suits her; loves her dogs more than kale.

It has been a couple of years since I ended a long term relationship. We are still friends. I am still in some contact with his daughters. I am not going to write a book about him.
Summary: ready to meet a really nice man who likes women, dogs, trees and travel.
What I’m doing with my life
Reading-- sometimes get totally absorbed in a book and stay up too late. Just stayed up reading one I bought from a vendor (the author) outside Peets--a Berber author writing about fleeing Algeria--fleeing over and over again--getting sent home over and over again.
Learning to play guitar. Looking for the tuning

gizmo so I can tune the guitar I am trying to learn to play.
Working part time.
Periodically traveling--some adventure, some third world. Just tried to work out getting on my sister's sailboat to sail with her in Malaysia but she was never in port long enough for me to fly to there where ever she was. Sigh.
Going to the theater, going to too many committee meetings, exercise, walking the dogs in the woods.
Cooking alot.
Spending time in New Mexico with artist friends.
I’m really good at
Other than my work, I am good at finding amazing and useful cooking tools. I am good at reading maps and solving problems. Also good at getting lost in really interesting places. Good at putting on my shoes and going for a walk. Good at picking out ripe peaches and fresh corn. Good at using my electric screwdriver. Really good at being a friend.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I am smart and funny and, if I am in sandals, that my toes are rather long (not an indication of smart or funny--just a fact).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Foreign films, art films (PINA--all time favorite).
Authors: Murakami, Geraldine Brooks,
Music: string quartets, country music, a cappella almost anything,
Food: fusion, ethnic, Nathan's hot dogs.
TV: The Killing, The Wire, Breaking Bad (bless netflix and amazon)
Art: Abakanowicz, aboriginal art
The six things I could never do without
White peaches, books, my daughter, my friends, the woods, my appointment book.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Furniture. Mental furniture.
Time.
Transgenerational transmission of enigmatic signifiers.
Who wants to know?
I think I don't like this question.
I once asked my father this question and he replied that he counted. COUNTED?? Counted things, sounds, I don't know. Otherwise he seemed pretty normal.
On a typical Friday night I am
Nothing typical. Watering orchids, feeding friends, going to music--heard an amazing a cappella male rock band not too long ago--House Jacks. Such an odd name for such a wonderful group. I came out of there just filled with music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
For several years, in my youth, I taught clowns at Ringling Bros Barnum and Bailey Circus. And I don't even think clowns are funny.
