My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi there! My name is Malena, but I also answer to 'Mel', 'Mellie', or 'Hey You With the Face'. Political Aficionado of a liberal leaning, if my location wasn't enough of an indication for you.

I am a Bay Area local, and wear that badge proudly. Baseball is my sport of choice, although don't ask me to play. Tidal waves come, small children cry, Bush's get elected to office and Fire Nations attack when I play sports .

I fall into the ISTJ variety of personality, if that means anything to you.....Oh! Apparently the best RPG class for me is Mystic Theurge......My friend had to explain what that is, but now he's teaching me about D and D so.....

I have a tendency to gather new hobbies and interests like crazy. Because of this I know about a lot of topics. Sadly, most of my friends have interest in only very few of these topics....Sigh...no one seems to share my passion for the last 3 generations of the Russian royal family or the nuances of 1990's era pro-wrestlers.....

I come from a large family of strays, and have a pretty great relationship with them. My little sister is the one you will see in some of the pics on here, and she is my partner in crime.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm currently taking a break from the intensity of 4 year-Universities, fulfilling the last of my general ed at a local JC.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
......well, I'm still trying to figure that out. I seem to be one of those people with the "potential" to be good at a lot of things, but I have yet to develop that substantially yet.

However, I am one heck of a debater, and cooking comes very naturally for me. I've also been told I'm funny, but I think it's because people don't properly interpret sarcasm nowadays.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My wit can be cutting but I am very protective of "my" people. Because I tend to keep my own social circle purposely small(I'm a loud introvert), every friendship/relationship is cherished. When I consider a person a friend or loved one, they get my very best. An old friend of mine often jokes that, for me, I would take a bullet for a friend, and dish them out for a best friend. Loyalty is my thing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I could no more pick a favorite book than I could star in the sky. Actually, it is more difficult, as my favorite star is Sulafat, in the constellation Lyra, but I still can't pick a favorite book. But I'll give it a shot.

Oddly enough I'm actually in the process of re-reading some of my favorite books from childhood. The Great Gilly Hopkins, Great Expectations, pretty much anything along the lines of historical fiction. Oh, and I just started reading my first Dan Brown novel, Inferno.

I greatly dislike Shakespeare. No, not because of school. But, now is not the time for tirade on sexism and poorly executed farce and satire in the Elizabethan age.

Show-wise, I'm not amazingly huge on TV. I watch Grey's Anatomy and True Blood to get a drama fix without muddling my own life, and for me, Dance Moms is like a gruesome car crash. I can usually be caught checking the baseball score of my beloved home team, but can be convinced to watch football or basketball if the game is interesting enough.

My musical tastes are highly eclectic, with my iPod filled with everything from showtunes to country western to 90's rap music to the occasional pop song or romantic ballad. But no Dubstep or Techno. I just can't.

Movies are a pleasure I partake in whenever possible. I don't particularly enjoy RomComs, but a good romantic drama on a bad day isn't unheard of. I love, let me repeat, LOVE horror movies, even though I tend to be a little paranoid about windows and showers for a few hours after watching them. The adrenaline rush is addicting. I also have a few movies I'm attached to from childhood, like Austin Powers and Wayne's World.

I also reeeeeeeally like movies with subtitles. Especially if it's a language I don't know a single word of.

In my family, cooking isn't a hobby, nay, even an art form, it is a way of life. So, I guess you could say we take it pretty seriously. Because of this, I love to cook. I've been told I'm pretty good at it, too. Name a recipe, and if I don't already know how to make it, generally, I'll learn how. Except anything involving Brussels Sprouts. Those are evil.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Books
Running Water
Fuzzy Blankets
"My" people
Time to daydream
24/hour Political News Commentary(yes, I'm aware I'm drinking the Kool-Aid)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. And worrying too. Worrying is my strongest natural talent. However, most of the time I just think about how much better my country would be if they would just give me absolute control of the government already.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either wandering around alone in a mildly dangerous manner, or hanging out with one of my equally nerdy friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't like my birthday. I usually get sick around my birthday, and it was always disappointing when I was younger, even when I wasn't sick, so I just don't really enjoy it anymore. I usually prefer when I have done something great to become the center of attention. Undeserved praise makes me uncomfortable, and is what I blame for the idiots of our generation.

Oh, and I'm not so great with people I don't know. I get kind of nervous and chatter on. Once I'm comfortable, I'm golden, but past experience has left me a little inexperienced with people my own age.

You think something magical could happen here, whether it's the beginning of a beautiful friendship, something romantic, or co-world domination.

Also, if you have passed the test that is reading this far. Yes, I made it this long for a reason.
