My self-summary
No excuses, few regrets, a whole lot of justifications, and a modicum of bullshit.
What I’m doing with my life
Deciding which half of my stuff to get rid of, then which half of that to get rid of, and so on.
I’m really good at
finding just the right word, although sometimes I do have to consult a thesaurus.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair, which defies the laws of physics, and my smile, which starts at my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
An incomplete list of books I would pay a million dollars to read again for the very first time would include, just off the top of my head: _The Razor's Edge_ by Somerset Maugham, _Still Life with Woodpecker_ by Tom Robbins, _Travels with Charley_ by John Steinbeck, _The Gospel Singer_ by Harry Crews, and _Wise Children_ by Angela Carter.

Movies:
Horror, film noir, dark comedies, stories where the good guys don't necessarily win but everyone gets what's coming to them. My favorite movie of all time is "Young Frankenstein" and I manage to quote it every day of my life. Incidentally, I realized recently that "Birdy" is now 30 years old and I don't know what to do with this information.

Shows:
I watch a lot of tv and don't even have the grace to be embarrassed about it. It's not how much you watch, but how you watch it.

Music:
Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, The Clash, and The Kinks are my favorites, but I will listen to just about anything except Fleetwood Mac and the Smashing Pumpkins (their cover of "Landslide" is like the worst thing imaginable). I also really love Leonard Cohen, but if I have to hear one more bad cover of "Halleluia" I will lose my shit. Also in my middle age I am developing a new appreciation for the genius of Morrissey, because I realize he was taking the piss all along.

Food:
I'm making a concerted effort to eat healthier these days, which means limiting the ice cream and the fried chicken, but as long as there's pickles and onions on my hamburger, I don't really miss the bacon and the cheese.
The six things I could never do without
something to read
coffee
my passport
Doc Martens (preferably with long stripey socks)
corrective lenses
my dog
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the balance between giving a project an honest chance to succeed, and recognizing when it's time to cut your losses and move on.
On a typical Friday night I am
unwinding from the week ... sometimes out with friends, sometimes doing laundry.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I hated Burning Man, but will probably go back.

you agree that reading aloud is the second hottest thing you can do together in bed.

Bonus points if you drive a car with standard transmission and you understand why this matters.
