I am a glass half-full, a passion for life, and unplanned adventure.
My Self-Summary
*** Update, 9/29/09: I'm only interested in friends right now, but
I've left my dating profile here as a good representation of my
personality. If you think we'd have fun platonically or that my
crew should hang with your crew, I'd still love to hear from you,
but if you're looking for a date, I'm not a good candidate.
***
Hey there! Yes, I know you’re going to skip this and check out the
pictures. No worries, go right ahead. After all, I’m probably going
to do the same for you… if I haven’t already. ;-)
Back so soon? Glad to hear it. Let me tell you about the man behind
the pretty face:
I don't have cable.* While I may fire up the picture box now and
then for a round of Rock Band, the occasional movie, or some Wii
shenanigans, most of the time I prefer to spend quality time with
the people I care about, read a book, or hit the road and find an
adventure.
At heart, I'm an absolute gentleman... with a streak of mischief
just wide enough to keep things interesting. I'll open the door for
you or offer up my coat on a cold night, then bet you a kiss I can
make the waiter say "underwear" before you can. And if you start a
pillow fight on a Sunday morning, you’ll get all the trouble you’re
looking for.
As for you... are you more than just a pretty face? I like offbeat,
intelligent women who are driven to change, save, or take over the
world. Those often referred to as "feisty" move to the head of the
line - I want someone who can keep me on my toes. You should be
emotionally healthy, have a good relationship with your family, and
know what you want from a man. The right woman lives life with
enthusiasm, and her brain is her best feature. If that sounds like
you, we should talk.
*My roommate DOES have cable, so technically I do, too, but I only
see it if I happen to be in the room when she's got it on.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an Account Executive at a local telecommunications equipment
reseller. What does that mean? Well, I spend most of my time
translating from "IT" to English, and I help people harness the
latest technology to improve their workplace - things like
implementing "work from home" programs and helping organizations
become greener by reducing waste and energy use.
Out of the office, I play on a pool league twice a week with
friends, and as captain, I led my team to the national
championships this year. Lately I've been getting into leathercraft
and learning to draw the human figure. Finally, everyone here says
they love to read, but how many actually have to go out and buy
bigger bookshelves to hold their collections?
I’m really good at
I've been singing since before I could talk, and played the guitar
for over half of my life at this point.
I have yet to meet a dog that didn't love me immediately.
I pick up new things faster than anyone you've know, and I've got a
black belt in witty verbal exchanges.
The first things people usually notice about me
That they're comfortable. Something about the way I handle new
people puts them at ease very quickly.
But sometimes it's the smile. I'm pretty bad at hiding the fact
that I'm trouble (only the best kind, of course). there's usually a
little spark of it shimmering in my eyes, too.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Movies with surprise twists, Neil Gaiman, new flavor combinations,
Stephen King, wagging tails, Rock Band, Dr. Pepper, a full tank of
gas and an open weekend, Food Network, dark wood with burgundy,
Harry Potter, the National Mall, karaoke, captivating stories,
playing pool, Thai food, indie music (and the XM radio that brings
it), Get Fuzzy, Postsecret, animal rescue, Scrabble, the W&OD
bike trail, puns, conversations that last for hours, red wine, 80s
music, eye contact, museums, poker, cheese, artistry of any sort,
farmer's markets, the smell of fresh coffee, bacon, making music,
new friends, smelling the roses.
The six things I could never do without
0. My amazing family and outstanding friends (go figure).
1. Gmail.
2. My iPhone. Yes, I'm a member of the cult.
3. A steady supply of good fiction.
4. My pool cue (it was handmade specifically for me).
5. A well equipped kitchen.
6. Caffeine.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If Carmen San Diego and Waldo hooked up, would their kids be
totally invisible or just really hard to find?
On a typical Friday night I am
What is typical? No such thing. This Friday, I spent quality time
with my roommate's dogs and dusted off Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! for
some old school fun. The one before? Bar hopping in Old Town for a
buddy's birthday. And prior to that, it was a weekend in the
District that started with a movie in Chinatown and ended with
tennis balls at the dog park.
I've really been digging DC’s independent theater scene recently –
the last great find was about Shakespeare and zombies. Local
music’s a big favorite, too, and I’ll almost never turn down the
opportunity to play tourist in the District.
That said, my favorite Friday is a quiet night at home to cook
dinner, curl up on the couch, watch a movie, and recharge, but it's
pretty rare that the social calendar allows it.
You should message me if
You share my philosophy on internet dates. Let's face it, nobody
clicks "send message" and magically lives happily ever after. I
want to have fun, and if we hit it off that's a bonus. So let's
learn to swing dance, take silly pictures at the sculpture garden,
or hit the Smithsonian for a game of hide and seek. We'll have a
good time and possibly make a new friend. If not, well... I've got
a vacancy in the "evil nemesis" department, but you'd better have a
your maniacal laugh down cold.
