I am grounded, daring, and different.

My Self-Summary

I've just updated my profile after noticing I've left it dead for 2 years plus so... ;)

Vivacious, outgoing, and with a twisted sense of humour, I believe in living life to the fullest by making full use of my days. I'm guilty of jam-packing my schedule to the max to make sure I live a balanced life and spend time with my family and friends, while juggling aspects of my life like my work, working out at the gym, fine wining and dining, reading, and church as well.

I am a straight Chinese girl from Singapore and here's a list of things I like to give you a hint of what kind of person I am: books (Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, Pablo Neruda's poetry, Kundera's Unbearable Lightness of Being, Alan Moore's Watchmen and V For Vendetta, etc), music (Tori Amos, Damien Rice, Death Cab for Cutie, Dresden Dolls, Sufjan Stevens, Modest Mouse!), movies (Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Pulp Fiction, Empires Strikes Back), TV (Buffy, Little Britain, Miami Ink and LA Ink), dresses (vintage or whatever, my fav colour is black and I'm not caught up with labels), shoes, sports (gym and muay thai). Oh yes, and I think Nigella is THE domestic goddess. ;)

I am very chatty for work / meeting people for the very first time / when I've had one too many drinks but yet, I'm shy with someone I like. ;) I now am learning to listen a lot to people and to speak a lot less. I find you really learn and accomplish a lot when you speak less and humble yourself to listen more to people. :)

What I’m doing with my life

I am working in the media industry and have been working for the past 7 years (yes it's been that long =p). During my spare time, I like to go the gym and do BodyCombat or BodyPump classes, my regular muay thai (Thai kickboxing) classes, meet up with my friends for karaoke, a drink, dinner, clubbing or whatever the hell we can think of, etc.I like to read and blog, and see writing as an expression of my feelings and as a reflection of my life.

I like spending time with my family too and make sure I try to have dinner at home with them as often as possible. I also have a cute cute little rabbit so I do spend time with him as well. :)

Oh yes, I'm now in a cooking phase (blame it on Nigella's gastroerotica) and am trying to cook semi-gourmetish kinda food. Duck confit, anyone? ;)

I’m really good at

writing (so I'm told!). I write A LOT in my blog (sorry! I only share my blog with close friends) and my only critics (thank God! :)) are my friends!I have been dabbling in a bit of poetry as well and who knows? In time, I may be able to put some of it out.

I'm also good at being a smart ass so if you can appreciate a dry / wry sense of humour, I think we can be friends. ;)

The first things people usually notice about me

- my laugh cuz I am always cracking a lame-ass joke or making people laugh. :)

- my dress sense. I am always in black (which is fine since I have jet black hair) but I do indulge in feminine vintage dresses now and then. Just don't ask me how much I paid for it. :p

- my cute bangs now that I've cut my hair!! ;)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

a) books: A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keynes, V for Vendetta and Watchmen by Alan Moore, The Sandman by Neil Gaiman, Milan Kundera's Unbearable Lightness of Being, Pablo Neruda's poetry, Y: The Last Man on Earth by Brian K. Vaughan (Ampersand!)

b) movies: Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back, Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Wizard of Oz, Pulp Fiction

c) music: Tori Amos, Damien Rice, U2, Eva Cassidy, Dresden Dolls, Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Modest Mouse.

d) foods: my mum's cooking, Italian, North Indian, Japanese. And umm, I do like to indulge in gourmet food now and then. Truffle oil, foie gras, wine, yesssss, my preciousss...

The six things I could never do without

1. God. I think without Him / Her, I wouldn't be what I am today.

2. water - I drink LOADS of water, so I need water wherever I go :)

3. a book - I enjoy reading so I usually read a book if I'm on the train. I've just finished reading Y: The Last Man on Earth. SO good!

4. lipstick or lipgloss

5. my mp3 player. I'm open to trying different types of music, so recommend away!

6. checking my email every day - yes, I am addicted to email. :$ I love receiving letters and mails...I just like corresponding =p

I spend a lot of time thinking about

what life is really about...why things have happened...what's the lesson to be learnt from a particular episode...

On a typical Friday night I am

either out with my friends dining, drinking, clubbing, or karaoking, or at the gym working out. :)

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I unfortunately have every Britney Spears album except the latest one. Yes, that was shameful. ;)

You should message me if

you'd like to be get to know a fun, easygoing girl and don't mind getting teased or embarrassed now and then by me. ;) If you're not Asian, you must be interested or at least willing to learn more about my culture.
