I am seventy, attuned, and not prepared.

My Self-Summary

Hello! I've just moved to Canberra from Florida and I am trying to get my life as close to normal as possible. At the moment I spend most of my time just figuring out how to do all the things I used to do back home. But once I get back on track, I can give a more honest answer!

What I’m doing with my life

Right now I am figuring out how to live in Australia, but at some point I will probably start doing my real job. I'm an oceanographer who works with big computer models at ANU. Outside of work and survival, I've been retreating into the computer world to connect with my friends back home.

I’m really good at

wasting the weekend

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know, do people notice me? I guess maybe my glasses. They turn into sunglasses in the sunlight so that is pretty cool.

I notice I need to start exercising again, blech...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'd be lying if I said I read a lot these days. Mostly stuff I read is pretty technical or sciency. But I do read the New York Times website and Andrew Sullivan's blog every day.

I don't like to redo things, and I don't usually like to rewatch movies. So outside of a few terrible ones my brother's pushed on me (Rest Stop? Blech), I'd always prefer something new to something old. Nonetheless, my favorites are probably the Miyazaki films. I can always watch those no matter how many times I've seen them.

I have really bad taste in food. I think I just never learned the meaning of Fine Dining.

The six things I could never do without

I go into mental convulsions without an internet connection.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

why I came here, and how I'm going to survive the next forty years.

On a typical Friday night I am

wishing I had an answer to this question.
