My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hiya! Currently living in the suburban sprawl, soon moving to Chicago and keeping a weather eye open to what kinds of friendly faces I can look forward too. I work in technology for an non-profit health care facility during the day and indulge in my own stuff the rest of the time (and sometimes at work). I like to hang with my friends and such. Sometimes we're at a favorite restaurant, sometimes seeing a movie but always savoring the company. Seriously, people matter to me and I'd rather be in rapturous company than "doing something." If you like to hang out and talk incessantly about the things that you love, we'll get along... and maybe more.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I sort of stumbled into IT after an education in the arts which I'm constantly trying to get back into while also expanding my technology horizons "just in case."

Otherwise, in my real life, I like a vast range of stuff. Things, however, that I REALLY like fall under the following: running & bicycling regularly (preferably under the warmth of the sun), laying around with fantastic tunes in the background, Chicago outdoor concerts, midnight movies at the Music Box, late-night talks, walks along Lake Michigan, the dinosaurs at the Field and, most importantly, discovering something awesome that I didn't know existed before.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh. Conversation. Offering opinions on... everything. Yeah, that may just be my specialty.

No matter where I am or what I'm doing I'm regularly told (by total strangers) that I bare a striking resemblance to Conan O'Brien in both appearance and personality/demeanor (minus the height). So, basically, I guess that means I walk around talking like a late-night comedian 24/7.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Everything, seriously. Films range from silent comedies (Chaplin, Keaton), classical Hollywood genres (John Ford Westerns, Gene Kelly Musicals), thrillers (Hitchcock, Brian DePalma), Woody Allen (the dramas as well as the comedies) and foreign masterpieces (Bergman, Truffaut, Fellini). I also like a lot of schlock though; new as well as vintage. Basically, anything that isn't your average blandness that pervades the marketplace today.

The same goes for music. I have pretty eclectic tastes. Arcade Fire, Fleet-foxes, Beach House and Bon Iver (and yes, I'm saying it the french way). If it's getting good reviews on Pitchfork, I'm probably digging it. I like the 90's alternative that I grew up with (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins) as well as the stuff that my aunt grew up with (Pixies, Dinosaur Jr). I really dig older rock; Beach Boys surfer harmonies with the Beatles, Mo-town and 70's Bowie and lots of past and current rap. If you follow my Spotify closely enough you'll also find a lot of classical and film scores in there too though. Really, unless you come to me wanting to listen to Nickel-back, we'll probably have a good time sharing material.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My six best friends.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Ideas... ones I would like to pursue (creative or otherwise). Bigger issues; challenges faced in the public domains. Political, economic crises. There's a lot of trouble facing us and my generation is going to shoulder most of the burden. Getting people to really care about this stuff is hard and taxing and I don't know how to do it, only that it has to be done. Apathy sucks.

But that all sounds pretty pretentious, I know. So, I try to have a pretty good time, most of the time. I usually accomplish that, at least. ;-)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
There is no standard Friday night.

I have a GREAT ice-breaker story about myself that's very humbling but you don't get that one very easily. I save that for face-to-face encounters only. Come on, you know you're intrigued.

So, if I told you I was throwing a Quentin Tarantino-character Halloween party and if you instantly knew the character you'd come as, we'd probably have a good time.

Nah, seriously... if you're cool, we'll probably be cool and I probably want to meet you.
