My Self-Summary

- Revamp in progress, apologies if you catch me with a nonsensical profile! -

Hallo there!

I'm a quiet guy to start with, but you'd find I warm up very nicely once you get to know me :) I tend to enjoy small groups of friends and people I get on with well as opposed to large crowds.

As for hobbies/amusement:

- Imagination! A good book will keep me riveted, and the really good ones will keep me thinking for ages after, films can often be the same - I like to be able to just dream, let my mind wander and see where it takes me.
- Walking, anywhere & any weather.
- Games: anything that keeps me amused or challenged, anything that tells a good story, or anything that lets me have fun/mess around with friends!
- Techie interests, whether it's following hardware/software news, a hobby project, or taking apart my PC for an upgrade/overclock.
- Good food, a must for most people :) though I have to admit I'm a crummy cook!

What I’m doing with my life

Taking life as it comes really, wondering where the journey will lead.

I Graduated a couple of years ago (Computer science), and now working as a software engineer/programmer in a games development company and thoroughly enjoying it!

Outside of work, I spend a great deal of time, reading books, building/painting models, playing games, or just chatting to friends (often at the same time), or just going for a happy walk somewhere and letting my mind wander :)

I’m really good at

- learning new things
- Seeing the best in people.
- Getting cats to like me.
- remembering random irrelevant details.
- Being embarassed ;)
- Making lists!

The first things people usually notice about me

Well, on OKC it's that PrimeNine is a bit of an odd name! Yes I know 9's not prime, no the name doesn't mean anything, it's just a pair of random words I liked the sound of.

In real life... dunno, you tell me :)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books/authors:

Sci-fi/Fantasy/Action fiction mostly, to name a top pick in no particular order:
- anything (and indeed everything) from Terry Pratchett
- fantasy epics such as Sword of truth (Terry Goodkind) and The Song of Ice and Fire (George R.R. Martin) and of course Lord of the Rings (do I need to give an author?). Recently started the Wheel of Time as well (R. Jordan)
- Anything from the Black Library (Games Workshops' publishing house), especially Dan Abnett.
- Anne McCaffrey
- Some of Tom Clancys' stuff (Op-center probably topping the list)
- His Dark Materials (Pullman)
- Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams), also his Dirk Gently books
...
My bookshelves are overflowing these days, and lots more incoming.

Movies:

Similar taste to books, generally fiction. Recently:
- Up
- District 9
- Surrogates
And thinking further back
- Lord of the Rings
- Serenity
- Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
- The Incredibles
- Lord of War
- Man of the Year]
...this list could go on till next week... but I'll leave it there!

TV:

Again similar to films/books. I often enjoy series that have long plotlines spanning seasons or more, and characters that have some feel to them. Babylon 5 would be a prime example, along with more amusing fare like QI (Genius!), Have I got news for you (bring back Angus Deaton), Top Gear (shameless shameless fun).

Music:

Can't really list any favourite bands, I'll happily listen to just about anything depending on mood (heavy metal is about the only thing that always leaves me cold). I'm not 'must-have' when it comes to music though, silence suits me just fine a lot of the time.

Food:

Large amounts of good meat are always welcome! Italian, Indian, Chinese, Malaysian all go down well. I do tend to stick to 'simple & tasty' though.

Games: (yes, I know it's not listed in the title, but what the hell)
recently: (subject to change depending on mood!)
- Prototype (sheer mindless destruction)
- Dawn of war 2 (great game, satisfies GW fanboyism)
- Portal (do I need to explain)
- Neverwinter Nights 2 + expansions

-----

Anything I haven't mentioned above? well some things do miss me completely, but I'll give most things a try if someone makes the suggestion!

The six things I could never do without

My Mind & Imagination - Above all else!

A Computer
Games for the above computer!
Someone to hug
At least one good book(shelf/case)
Cat(s)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Anything under the sun (or in it).

ahh ok, that answer's cheating ;) - it's largely true though, my mind is something I'm quite proud of, and I spend ages just thinking, about anything. How long's it been since...? Why do...? When is...? How does XYZ Work? Is there a better way of doing...? What would it be like to...?
and most commonly: 'Why doesn't the human brain have an off switch so I can finally go to sleep!'

On a typical Friday night I am

Generally glad its the weekend, almost always doing something I enjoy :) To take the last few weeks as an example:
- Recovering from a very late night at work with a good book and comfy bed!
- Quiet night chatting to friends and getting a bit of painting done
- At the cinema with a friend

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a geek, deal with it!

You should message me if

Whatever reason you want to choose :)

Chances are that if I've already had a look and haven't tried to talk to you then I'm probably just being shy! Feel free to send a poke.

One minor request - please don't make first contact though the IM system, I'm often not in a position to reply instantly. However if you do spend the time to string a few sentences together, I can promise you'll get a reply :)
