My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a smart person. I love learning new things and discussing them with other people. I am extremely curious and find all sorts of subjects fascinating: science, history, politics, art and more. I am the type of person who has to look something up when I'm asked a question I don't know the answer to. I love books, fiction and non-fiction, as well as documentaries. I am hoping to find someone who will challenge me intellectually and teach me new things.

I am a creative person and have a passion for making art of all kinds. I also have a deep appreciation of the arts and am incredibly inspired and stimulated by so many great visual artists, performers and musicians. Ideally, my partner would share my passion for the arts.

I am a tolerant person who appreciates the differences between all of us and tries not to judge people. I would consider myself a social liberal, if titles are necessary. Though I am as imperfect as anyone else, I do strive to have as few prejudices as possible and find value in all people. Even though I don't believe in God, I don't have an agenda to convert anyone to my way of thinking and I respect people who do have religious beliefs. I don't think I could be partners with anyone who was intolerant or who didn't believe in equal rights for all people.

I love my family. They are extremely important to me, especially my brother and sisters. I would do absolutely anything for them. I am someone who goes above and beyond for the people I care about. I don't have a large circle of friends, but the ones I do have are incredibly dear to me. I also love dogs like they are family members and, though I don't have one of my own, the family dogs are very dear to me.

I feel things more deeply than some people. I am very open and in touch with how I'm feeling. I hope to find someone who is not afraid of having or sharing their emotions. I want someone who doesn't fear falling in love.

I strive to be a healthier person. I am working hard at losing weight by eating healthy foods and living an active lifestyle. Obviously I am overweight, but I don't plan to be that way forever. I hope to find someone who can inspire me to make healthier choices and who will love me for who I am no matter what weight I am currently at.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Making art. Spending time with loved ones. Try to live as happily as possible and to be mindful of the wonderful things in life.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Discussions (politics, history, art, whatever...). Learning. Being there for a loved one no matter what. All sorts of artsy/craftsy things. Seeking out and absorbing random facts.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut (I own every Vonnegut novel/short story collection/autobiography in paperback) and George Orwell. Also, I like non-fiction books about whatever topic I am currently intrigued by. Right now I am reading Lies My Teacher Told Me, which is a great book about all the things American history textbooks get wrong or overlook.

Movies: The Godfather, The Departed, Inception, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Shutter Island, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Royal Tenenbaums, Casino Royale, Pulp Fiction, Zoolander

TV: The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Mad Men, 30 Rock, Law & Order, House, Downton Abbey, Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, Sherlock, History/Science/Discovery Channel, Documentaries, PBS News Hour

Music: Queen, The Beatles, Maroon 5, Ben Folds, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Beach Boys, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Lady Gaga
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Water (and air and all that good stuff...)
Family and friends
Summers in Maine
And...iPhone/an internet connection (sadly, I think it's true.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Life and death, art, music, politics, love, what I'm going to do when I grow up, how Moriarty came back from the dead, my health, you name it!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Having coffee with friends. Reading. Having dinner at my family's house. Watching Stewart and Colbert on Hulu. Going out on a date. Probably not partying.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've lost over 20lbs in the last few months.
