My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I love my life. And it keeps getting better! It's kind of ridiculous... I document photos of it on Instagram as themannimal76

A dozen random things about me:
1. I love to smile, and my life allows me to do it frequently.
2. I quote The Big Lebowski regularly, but hey, that's just your opinion, man.
3. I am a fire dancer. If I'm not spinning fire, or glowy things, I'm at least thinking about it.
3. I'm from Louisiana, and I have its soul, funk, and jazz within my veins.
4. I live in Oregon, because I like the scenery, the people, and the weird.
5. I love to solve logic puzzles, and then I love philosophy because you can't solve it.
6. If asked I can sometimes can bring out my Southern accent, and I learned that I could pull off a great Matthew McConaughey impression. I've learned that booze helps this transformation (and bongos).
7. I love to plant figurative language within a conversation and watch it blossom when someone carries the word usage further.
8. I used to bike a 13-mile commute every day. I miss the way it makes me feel, and I'm looking forward to biking some more this spring.
9. My nickname in real life is from a really bad 80s t.v. show.
10. I fantasize about a Ph.D. in pop culture, as I believe the field would allow me to be introspective, yet not take my work too seriously.
11. I like that thing people do in the desert.
12. I never want to stop learning.

I am wordy and verbose, prolific, and prone to prose
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Lately I've been on an artistic streak. Ask me about my latest drawings. http:// mannimals . tumblr. com is my feed where I post most of my artwork.

I currently am teaching at two high schools right now, which is demanding but also pretty awesome.

Right before that, I had just ended a career as a Librarian / Media Specialist, which means that I got to play with books all day and also share knowledge and the means to access it. With the Internet, and how it has quickly exploded over the past twenty years, it is an amazing time to be doing what I do. I'm going to miss the job; I can tell already. However, I'm excited about many news things coming my way.

I once was a roadie for Metallica, Speed of Sound Tour... Buncha assholes.

When I'm not at work, I'm diving into art projects, spinning deep conversations with friends, playing with new technology, experimenting with paint, or possibly even reading a book or two.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Chillaxing - One thing I love doing more than anything else is embracing my inner Dude and just relaxing with friends.

Entertaining - Whether just sharing time with someone or performing for a group of people, I enjoy making others smile.

Conversing - not conversating; I think it goes back to my ability to listen to others and then share their experiences with others in the form of story.

Hedonism - Or at least celebrating it from time to time, as a Professional Weirdo should. I like good times, and good people, good drink, good atmospheres that provide them.

Aside from writing and teaching, I love finding facts or learning how to do something new.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes or my smile or my chillaxed nature. If you meet me, fill me in.

Some great things I've heard from people who have met me in real life after seeing my profile here:

"Wow, you really look like your pictures!" Why, yes I do. It makes me wonder what kind of pictures others are posting. No one likes a "bait and switch."

"You don't have a "guy holding a fish" photo." No, I don't. Not that I don't like fish... but I don't know why women would find that attractive - turns out... The women I want to attract... they don't!

One thing I love about meeting people is how I do not have a set thing that I find necessarily draws me to someone, but instead I intensely enjoy meeting people with some rather striking feature that I've never appreciated before.

Hmm... I'm a pop culture freak, so these are so hard to do:
Books: Fight Club, Twelfth Night, Hitchhiker's Guide, Life of Pi, Paper Towns (My favorite YA of 2008-09), Neverwhere, Jonathon Livingston Seagull, Fables, The Tale of Genji, The Stand, Queen of the Damned, Monster (Walter Dean Myers) O Henry's short stories, Night Watch, Kate Chopin's stories, Lady Audaly's Secret, Discipline and Punish, What Would Google Do, The Shaping of Things by Bruce Sterling, Fear and Loathing - my username is a spinoff of one of HST's quotes, "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

Movies: The Big Lebowski, Blade Runner, V for Vendetta, Shawshank Redemption, Southland Tales, Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, The Shining, American Beauty, American Psycho, Serenity, Aliens, Equilibrium, Waking Life, Darjeeling Limited, 12 Monkeys, Snatch - Or better yet, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -Jaws, Fight Club, Panic Room, The Game, Silence of the Lambs, Rushmore, Miller's Crossing, the Departed, Goodfellas, Godfather Trilogy, The Matrix and its Animatrix, Old school, Waterboy, Eternal Sunshine, Grosse Point Blank, Ethan Hawke's Hamlet, Empire Strikes Back (because it ends on a down note), Clerks (from where that quote came) Going old school: Casablanca, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Maltese Falcon, Kwaidan, The Hidden Fortress, Seven Samurai, Fist full of Dollars, North By Northwest, to name a few

TV: Dexter, How I met your mom, Skins, Daily Show, Arrested Development, Venture Bros., Bullsh*t, Firefly, Weeds, Entourage, True Blood

Internet content: Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog, the Guild, PostSecret, People of Walmart, Asseeninshreveport.com, XKCD, Quantz, The Society for Librarians who use the word MF, I love StumbleUpon, and Katie West, yummy!

Music: Triphop, Downtempo, Sexy sultry voices, I love Mix CDs.
Food: some favorites: Cajun - Blackened Chicken on fetticini, Italian - tortellini, Mediterranean - anything with lamb and olives

I love good PacNW wines and beers - Sweet Cheeks' Pinot Noir is yum, but Bogle Phantom is my favorite wine of all time: a Old Vine Zin blend, as for beer, the stronger the better when it comes to stouts and IPAs. -

You make a mean caucasian, Jackie! I like your style.

I have a love for Dark Chocolate.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Good Friends with which to enjoy the last two
Good Chocolate - I love pairing the perfect chocolate with a good friend.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
For the majority of my adult life, I spent in the pursuit of happiness. However, I have recently realized that happiness is not completely sustainable. In fact, I think it is a good thing to fall out of happiness from time to time. This allows you to adapt to move, to change, to struggle, to evolve! To feel alive!

From the moment of this epiphany, I decided that I no longer wish to seek seek happiness. Now I desire to feel alive!

My mind never stops. My brain shares the persistence of the character Dexter's inner monologue without all of its stabby rage.

Lately, I've been analyzing my life and where it has brought me thus far. One of the hurdles I dealt with for years was my problem with monogamy. Being raised in the South, with all of its mores and what not, I thought monogamy was the only way to do things... but honestly, I always had contentions with it. That said, I was always loyal to my partners. But over the past three years and a half I've discovered that I function well without the confines of it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
During the summer, any night is potentially a Friday Night... how lucky? Right?

Most fridays I spend right: grabbing a beer at 4 and prepping for the weekend. Usually, I'm ready for anything from a quiet night with a friend and a glass of wine and something to discuss, to preparing myself for an exciting party that will last until after dawn. It depends on the weekend and the people around me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

Everyone knows my secrets... and I like it that way. Delightfully Deviant...

Nihilism? Eff me. Say what you want about National Socialism, but hey, at least its an ethos.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You like sprinkles.

you're a fun, slightly-nerdy woman who is both intellectually stimulating, and willing to enjoy herself.

With the free time I decide to spend socially, I would like to be meeting and enjoying people who seem truly interesting, intriguing, and inspiring. If you like what you see and want to meet me, say hi, do something fun or silly, or quote from the Lebowski.

Or if you realize that #2 in my profile is an understatement.
