My self-summary
Rarely boring!
I'm playful and silly but get a bit significant at times. Have tons of great stories and love to listen to yours. I will want to know you -- all the way through. Love to cook for the people I care about. And I have this wicked, little oral fixation you may be able to help me with...

I'm definitely NOT your typical 'U.S. Boy'

And I'm an avid/rabid whitewater kayaker

I am mischievous, irreverent, and an instigator

Judging by some of the messages I've received, my little profile here seems to function as a sort of Rorschach test.
Please be advised.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food? As a chef, that's a vast and ever-changing notion.
Formal or casual, local or foreign, fine dining or comfort foods, there are few things I won't love if they are made well.

Two books that have changed my life are "Heven Sabits of Highly Dyslexic People" & "Procrastinate Now!"
Other favs include Tim Cahill's stuff; Gaia's Garden; Power vs. Force; Spiritual Enlightenment, the Damndest Thing; the Harry Potter series; The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
The Complete Calvin & Hobbes was a recent gift to myself
Been on a mystery binge for the past few years, exploring different authors, burned through Sherlock Holmes at an alarming pace.
Currently looking for a new literary distraction.
Update: Been reading a bunch lately and enjoying Peter Allison, The Hunger Games & Ann Patchett.
A more recent update: enjoying the guilty pleasures of Lemony Snicket and Chelsea Handler.

Music is core for me and though I have a fairly wide range of music that connects for me, Retro Wave/ Alternative is where I live. I enjoy everything from big band/ swing to Mozart & Vivaldi and even some Latin & Brazilian rhythms. Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division and Bauhaus are some top picks.

Movies are my drug of choice. Love to get lost in the world of a movie, and powerful ones can linger in me like an illegal substance. There are few movies that I can't enjoy. (though not that keen on horror, mindless testosterone flicks and the most idiotic comedies)
Movies I most love include:
Fight Club
Tous les Matins du Monde
The Messenger
Sex & Lucia
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
The Hunger
The six things I could never do without
The SEX things I can't live without??

Wow, that's rather personal...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"Sex things I can't live without"

I mean "your boobs" -- No Wait!

Kidding aside I have a "furtive" mind which never seems to rest, though lately it has on occasion allowed me some peace and quiet.
At some level it's chewing on solving all sorts of problems from peace in the Middle East to the quickest, most efficient way to drive to work.

Topics occupying bandwidth these days include:
How do I make the difference I want to see in the world?
What do I want my life to look like?
What exactly is the job/ career that will be a self-expression?
- Then how do I create it?
How do I get my current job down to a 3 day/ 40 hour work week?

What will it take to create a truly sustainable human presence on Earth?
What economic model can we create that sustains life, rather than mindlessly/ obliviously consuming body, soul & the planet.

What do I want to create in the realm of relationships?
- Personal?
- Romantic?
- Work?

Would it be bad to ask about the cute friend in her profile photo...?

What do I REALLY want for breakfast/ lunch/ dinner?

How can I get onto the river soon?

What would she look like with her...?
On a typical Friday night I am
...not so typically occupied
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
As a boy I wanted desperately to be a CPA, and now as an adult I have to settle for being a superhero

Oh, the bitter disappointment...
