I am witty, eccentric, and well rounded.

My Self-Summary

I'm a 35-year-old writer-editor-creative director who's been away from Baltimore for 15 years (college, grad school, life, work, love, etc.) I moved back to the city last July so that I could be more available to my parents with whom I'm very close. Now that I've gotten my life here settled, I've the energy and time to meet new people and pursue relationships.

While I'm an easy-going extrovert who gets along well with most, I'm in no hurry to couple nor am I looking to make a relationship where there isn't a killer spark and connection of mind, body, heart, and soul. I'd love to meet someone similar who also craves that exquisite clicking. I'm interested in meeting quality people regardless of sex and gender identity. I believe in human connection.

There's not much that doesn't interest me or about which I'm not curious. Learning, reading, researching, and trying new things are essential to me, as are honesty and openness. The quote that best describes my attitude toward experiencing the world at large is "Since we cannot know all that there is to be known about anything, we ought to know a little about everything." --Blaise Pascal.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a writer, editor, propagandist, general creative and marketing manager with a lengthy history in books and publishing. I also help out my father with the family antiques business. That's the vocational part at least. The rest is mine to make of it what I will, and I do on a day-to-day basis. Tremendous freedom and possibilities there, but I do take my work seriously and I put some hours in.

I’m really good at

Deconstructing signs and symbols and subtexts, pairing flavors, making the mundane into a memorable experience, remembering every song I've ever heard, doing math in my head, envisioning how the furniture should go in a room.

The first things people usually notice about me

Intensely blue eyes, strength for smallness of stature, sense of humor.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Activities: Reading, writing, correspondence, conversation, fitness, walking and hiking, taking things apart to see how they work and then putting them back together, gardening, cooking, hanging out with my dog, Scrabble, crosswords, current events, tasting new flavors (literally and metaphorically), deconstructing pop culture, home repair.

Interests: Literature, intertextuality, literary traditions, satire, history, semiotics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, evolution, environmentalism, economics, dark chocolate, coffee, stinky cheeses, red wine, Belgian beers, vodka, mid-century modern, industrial design, dogs, propaganda, Macs, trivia, perfect pop songs, world affairs, reducing consumption, nutrition and healing foods, antiques, VWs, mod culture, dandyism, soccer, fossils, ZPG, Wunderkammern and collections of curiosities in general.

The six things I could never do without

My dog, my Mac, a recognition and appreciation of the absurd, pockets, a decent pen, language.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Words, how things work, sex, food, evolution, what makes something good, names, plants, animals.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I do not own, need, nor want a microwave oven and I have lived without one for many years.

You should message me if

You get some of what I've written above; we're similar but not the same; you have a picture on your profile (or you're attaching one when you write me); you're snarky without being mean, cynical without being jaded, intelligent but aware that over-thinking can paralyze action, a hard worker but not a workaholic, appreciative of art and craft and the marriage of form and function, tolerant but not a doormat, good with animals and children, into quality over quantity, understanding of the importance of context . . .
