"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. "
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I hate to 'watch' life; I'd much rather experience it. I enjoy the outdoors - the weather and opportunities that SoCal offers are amazing. My favorite outdoor activities include Mtn Biking and Hiking but have done a variety of adventures like rock climbing, backpacking/camping, whitewater kayaking, and Crocodile Wrestling (wait, maybe that last one was just a dream). But don't write me off as Steve Irwin just yet - I also have a practical relaxed side as well. I can be serious when appropriate, yet be a bit of a (good-natured) goof when a laugh is needed. Others would tell you that I'm witty and engaging, charming and respectful, intelligent and creative, honest and loyal, passionate and compassionate, with integrity and sincerity and a thousand other good qualities, but I invite you to find out for yourself (go ahead, I double-dog dare you!). My sense of humor is a bit dry and sarcastic, good-natured and edgy. I try to live healthy but not above the enjoyable indulgences; I work out 6 days a week but wouldn't consider myself a gym rat, just trying to keep fit and enjoy life and feel good. I enjoy creative artsy things like writing, drawing, and painting, and can apply my creativity to life and be handy at remodeling and repairs and my annual Christmas letters are always a hit.

I'm a Christian, and while I'm not legalistic and pushy about my faith, it is important to me so something we must share in common.

I am not nor have I ever been a barfly, club hopper, or game player so if that kind of personality appeals to you or you would categorize yourself as those, you might want to do us both a favor and just move on to the next profile, okay? You know the one - it's with a shirtless guy with a cellphone in front of a mirror trying so hard to flex you think he'll have a cerebral embolism. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Perfection? Nice, but hardly. A Christian lady who tries her best and is happy with that. Confident but not arrogant, self reliant but appreciates help and doesn't feel chivalry is demeaning, tender but strong, intelligent but not a know-it-all, cares about her appearance but not obsessed with it, social but not a needy chatterbox, and witty but not a clown (they creep me out).

If you enjoy being active outdoors that could be a nice "explore adventures together" thing, but mostly I'm looking for down-to-Earth, relaxed, and comfortable-in-her-own skin, as that's the day-to-day things that relationships are based on. If you mountain biked too, that's great, but otherwise we'll chalk that up to my "guy's day out" thing. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Basically I want a normal lady who fits in better relaxing with friends at home or out on the hiking trails than in bass-thumping Hollywood nightclubs. Trustworthiness and honesty are essential.
What Iโ€™m doing with my life
Donโ€™t overthink this one; tell us what youโ€™re doing day-to-day.
My degree is in Psychology and I do technology research and design (Trรจs cool job) in BioTech. I'm a Dad and that's important to me. I have alternating weeks with my two kids (G12/B9) and I'm active in their life. I coach Little League sports and play chauffeur for their classes and trips.
It does not mean you will not get any attention, you absolutely will. For Myers-Briggs personality type I'm INFJ/ISFJ (depending on the version and specific questions; I'm borderline between them and have strong characteristics of each) - look it up if you have any questions for what kind of relationship partner you can expect with me. (Think "your protector and confidant, loyal, devoted, and fulfills-all-your-needs") ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Iโ€™m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We wonโ€™t judge.
I have been told that I'm a talented artist, writer, and singer (although I'm highly suspect to the validity of this last praise)
The first things people usually notice about me
Iโ€™m an empty essay… fill me out!
My Smile? My wit, charm, and sense of humor? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Ok, fine, you'll probably notice my height too. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm somewhat eclectic and can listen to a variety, but judging by volume in my MP3 archive I suppose I gravitate mostly to Acoustic (A Fine Frenzy, Rachael Yamagata, Sara Bareilles, Jason Mraz, and Boyce Avenue), but have some Contemporary Christian (Mercy Me and Holly Starr) and Pop Chart type stuff in there as well (Bruno Mars and Train). When in the car I'm more likely to be listening to public broadcast and news stations to keep up on things.

Favs are psych thrillers, SciFi, action, and comedies but enjoy a variety here as well. I can say one that surprised me recently was About Time, it was touching with a good message about living and appreciating the moments we have.

[BOOKS:] ๐Ÿ“–
One of my favorite authors is Joel Rosenberg, who has an amazing gift to weave a literary tapestry with poignant societal and geopolitical insights. Let's see, a few repeatedly read authors include Eoin Colfer, James Patterson, Dan Brown, Anthony Horowitz, Michael Grant, and Derek Landy. Books/series include Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Matched, Divergent, Ender, and the Maze Runner series. I'm currently reading BZRK. Looking over this list, I'm catching that I gravitate toward the whole Good vs. Evil battle thing, with a penchant for Dystopian Society fiction. I also read through many of the same series my daughter is, so we have something of a family book club thing going (luckily so far we have similar interests). I'm also becoming an eBook convert because I love being able to pick up a few pages in-between tasks - but... does anyone else find themselves still licking their fingers before trying to "turn" the page?!? ๐Ÿ˜‰

[TV:] ๐Ÿ“บ
I don't watch a lot of TV... and never live! I'm more prone to picking up something late in the series and go through them all (not marathon style, maybe an episode a night but only one series) - I did this for Smallville, Battlestar Gallactica, Heroes, Lost, Fringe, and Game of Thrones. My current 'project' is catching up on Once Upon A Time. I also enjoy Big Bang Theory, and Modern Family because I can watch those with the kids.
One thing you will not see me doing is parking myself in front of the TV watching sports EVERY day/weekend (fret not dear maiden - you shall not become an NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB/PGA/NASCAR, etc widow with me) - if I do it's most likely a social activity, or a particularly good matchup, World Cup, Stanley Cup, Olympics, etc.

I think I already covered this above.... but if you have another activity in mind Share it! I'm game to try something!๐Ÿ˜ƒ
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Jesus (easy because He's always there)
My Kids
My Family
My sense of purpose
Technology (aren't we all slaves to it?)
My Mountain Bike and other Gear (sports, camping, etc)
Oh, and a Wilson volleyball ๐Ÿ˜‰
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacationโ€ฆ itโ€™s all fair game.
I try to pause regularly and silently acknowledge the blessings, big and small, that God brings into my life. Hopefully that very statement will touch the right lady and I'll have one more thing to thank Him for. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Okay, I've also started wondering what "mostly" monogamous means on people's profiles, as that qualifier seems incongruous with the concept of monogamy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on โ€” how do you let loose?
Varied, but often involves spending time with my kids, playing a variety of games or watching a movie. For now it's also soccer practice while the season is in swing.
The most private thing Iโ€™m willing to admit
Iโ€™m an empty essayโ€ฆ fill me out!
I can make Chicken Cordon Bleu and a Cheesecake to die for but somehow manage to consistently burn microwave popcorn because I can never seem to figure out the right rate at which the pops should slow to signifying doneness.
