My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a wildlife biologist, currently based out of Ventura, CA and completely new to the area. Hoping to find a camping/climbing/drinking buddy and seeing where things go

Most of my free time is spent reading, writing, drawing, attempting to be musical, and doing outdoorsy things. Currently getting into rock climbing

Mainly here because the whole working seasonal jobs in the wilderness thing makes meeting people all kinds of difficult. I typically interact with more bears than people.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I graduated from UW-Madison in 2013 with a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Genetics, and now I'm pretty much just travelling around to whatever ecology work I can find and working on a few low-key research papers until I can put together a graduate/PhD project
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I've been told I'm good at telling stories. And grilling.

And being awkward. I'm impressively skilled at being awkward. I don't even have to try anymore.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably how well house trained I am despite spending most of my time in the wilderness.

That and how nearly every recent picture of me includes owls. Mostly babies. They're the closest thing I have to a pick-up line. We should get a beer and I can show you them.

Music is a major part of my life. I play some guitar and am working on learning banjo and harmonica. I listen to almost any music except pop country (blues/folk country is an entirely different story). Warren Zevon, Tom Waits, Springsteen, and William Elliott Whitmore stand out as some favorites. High SIerra Music Festival has been a yearly tradition that I'm hoping to keep up.

I'll watch pretty much any movie ever, although whether or not I can force my self to take it seriously is pretty up in the air. Extremely bad movies hold a special place with me. When it comes to television, sitcoms. Either actually good ones or hilariously awful ones, both are fine. And comedy. If you watch Community, I already like you. I also definitely nerd out for Marvel movies

I finally have time for reading now that I finished school for the time being. I read pretty much anything and am in desperate need of suggestions if you have any. Currently reading Game of Thrones-like books without actually diving into Game of Thrones, because someday it the distant future I'll be able to hit the series in one solid go
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-my guitar

I travel enough that everything I own has to fit in my car, so I'm used to living pretty light
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Animals, science, music, bad jokes, food I'd like to eat, what the view would be like from the top of that building, whether or not a mountain lion is following me, how I could really probably use money more than a second lung at this point, but trying to sell one tends to raise some red flags in the medical community. You know, normal person things
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Drinking, adventuring, catching up after a summer without Netflix. I'm a big fan of mixing alcohol with nature documentaries.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I flew in a small 4-seat plane early September, and the pilot let me. Still riding a child-like giddiness over it.

Also I tend to update this question more often than is probably reasonable with whatever recent event is currently amusing me.

You don't mind talking to someone who's really bad at small talk. Like really, really bad until I get into an actual conversation. Someone once asked me what I did for fun and I said "running" because that's what was written on my shirt.

Again, I'm new to the area, so the whole "new friends" is entirely legit
