My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I have an MFA in poetry from Colorado State University. I just moved back to Asheville (I'm a Warren Wilson alumna). I have lived in New Orleans, Fort Collins, CO, Ireland and I was born in good ol' Indiana, though I haven't lived there since I graduated from high school.

I am interested in making performance art, Egon Schiele, Nick Cave (the visual artist), painting, drawing, hiking (lightly), cooking, taking last minute road trips--I am extremely spontaneous, swimming, and trying to figure out how to live as an artist. I have a really dark sense of humor, which I think is essential to attempt a life as an artist.

I spend a lot of time thinking about why we make art, how to persist and how to affect change with it.

I make my own body products and have plans to get out a line in the world soon.

I am currently reading the DC Batman Comic series, which is new for me. Just trying to do some light reading after the trauma that is graduate school.

I read tarot cards, and own a chi machine, which I think helps me sleep and relax but I don't really understand why except for the fact that it rocks you back and forth.

My favorite thing to do is go for a drive to a new place. I think it might be because my dad raised me and was really into cars...we were always driving around.

I have a cat named Simon and he is one of my BFFs.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Making performance art and poetry while looking for a teaching/arts job (just moved here a couple weeks ago). I plan to take a trip to the outer banks this weekend and film a performance on the beach in a garment covered in feathers that I sewed on by hand...gonna call it "A Hundred Eyes"--should be fun and shake up my daily ins and outs if nothing else.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being honest, having a sense of humor, being spontaneous, and flexible enough for artistic collaborations, dancing, being childlike

I am currently listening to the Dirty Three, Tom Waits and the Tinkersticks pretty much nonstop.

But I also love bluegrass, rockNroll, and experimental shit.

I just read Diane Keaton's Memoir--again, lots of light reading happening after grad school--which I loved. On the heavier shit I am reading Paul Celan's poetry, Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Estes, Trance Poetics by Kristen Prevallet, and a Caribbean anthology of poetry.

Childhood favorite movie: Mrs. Doubtfire
Current love interest: Madmen--watching it for the first time
Love all kinds of movies except most romantic comedies, unless Drew Barrymore is in it--I love her. Love scary movies and action movies--taking a break from psychological thrillers, too heavy right now.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. art
2. meditation
3. baths
4. friends
5. words
6. sushi
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
what my next performance piece is going to entail. I try to keep my creative mind active, as it is a practice you must cultivate.

How to make sense out of this cruel cruel world of resumes, careers and capital. Spending lots of time writing cover letters n shit. Boring.

How inspirational Gordon Ramsey can be.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
dancing, having a drink, going to a concert, working on art, taking a drive some place new or watching a movie at my place with my cat.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes I write letters to artists that I adore knowing I aint gonna hear back
