My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Gotta soul kitchen. Gotta snake skin. Gotta rosary. Gotta shark tooth. Gotta eagle talon.

I am interested in ancient philosophy, stacking stones, poetry, feminism, painting, drawing, hiking (lightly), cooking, maps/mapmaking, taking last minute road trips, swimming, and trying to figure out how to live as an artist.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching college freshmen how to write (papers, sentences, you name it). Also, a graduate program in poetry.
I’m really good at

My favorite types of music are blues, jazz, and bluegrass. I was really into the local music scene in New Orleans where I used to live. In my past I was drawn to alternative rock, so I still enjoy that sometimes. Right now, I am listening to Grayson Capps, Justin Townes Earle, and Sippie Wallace.

My favorite books are as follows: Maps of the Imagination: The Writer as a Cartographer, Off Magazine Street, Aristotle's De Anima (particularly his discussion of touch as sensory perception), anything by Anne Carson, As I Lay Dying, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, poems by Robert Creeley, The Spell of the Sensuous, and Sappho's fragments.

My new favorite movie is The Future.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) friends and family
2) art
3) music
4) personal space
5) the moon
6) Cassiopeia
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Lately, Nick Cave. Not the musician (though he's rad) but the visual artist. His soundsuits at the Denver Art Museum made me reconsider about the human spirit's (I'm not even sure what that means--I'm not religious) relationship to art.

I'm always thinking about how to live art--vibrantly, fully, and honestly.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
