I am nerdy, inquisitive, and devious.

My Self-Summary

so i'm a nerd. not like a trendy nerd that nearly everybody says they are these days, but like a real, d20 carrying nerd nerd. so, that'll limit the responses, i'm sure.

i just moved to the carytown area where i rent a house and could use a few friends in the area. looking for anybody who wants to kick a soccer ball around, throw a frisbee, play some hackysack, play some disc golf...whatever. doesn't matter. there is some great food in the area. wanna meet over lunch? ever been to maymont park? lets go. i'm game for most activities, so just let me know.

i once read a profile on here that said that she didn't want messages from anybody who played World of Warcraft. i suppose it was because WoW players have a tendency to be addicts. well, i play World of Warcraft, though as i'm writing this, its been almost a week since i last played. so, let that scare off who it will...

a few things: i'm a vegetarian, and don't care that you eat meat. i'm very liberal and don't care if you're not. i'm straightedge and don't even know anybody else who is. i'm atheist and most of my friends are christians. my pictures are kinda old, and make me look just plain awful. they're only accurate in that i really do look much younger than 28.

it should be noted that i almost never initiate contact with people on here anymore as people nearly never responded to them. so... bonus points for messaging me. besides, why be shy? i mean, this is a socialization site, right? don't be shy. just say hello.

What I’m doing with my life

well, for the past few years i've worked for starbucks. i've worked as a barista on and off again for over 6 years now, and i really enjoy it. but, i think my run is close to over. i've been thinking its time to move on to something new. i likely won't enjoy it as much, but there are a lot of places i want to see and thats hard to do working at coffee shop wages.

on the fun side, i've recently started having ultimate frisbee games, so anybody interested in joining in should say hello.

I’m really good at

ah, what to say here that comes off as confident but not cocky or totally lame...

witty comebacks. getting better at disc golf. macgyvering things. really bad puns.

The first things people usually notice about me

people have a tendency to think that i'm in a bad mood. its usually that i'm just thinking about...well...stuff.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

uh oh...

books: the princess bride, everything R.A. Salvatore, Tolkien, good omens, lamb, the deathgate novels, douglas adams, the harry potter series

movies: get ready for a long read... army of darkness, boondock saints, equilibrium, fight club, the jerk, kung fu hustle, labyrinth, leon: the professional, anything monty python, little monsters, lord of the rings, mirrormask, nightmare before christmas, ong bak, princess mononoke, princess bride, searching for bobby fischer, spirited away, , snatch, the storyteller, uhf, willow, hot fuzz, stardust, hook, coming to america, the big lebowski, kiss kiss bang bang, legend of drunken master, star wars, harry potter... and on and on and on...

music: tool, a perfect circle, rage against the machine, black sabbath, V.A.S.T., gorillaz, emiliana torrini, martina topley bird, portishead, apocalyptica, goldfrapp, kid koala, nine inch nails, queen, david bowie, rilo kiley, feist, led zeppelin, lynard skynard...updates: metric, and i'm really into joanna newsome

tv shows: firefly, babylon 5, space: above and beyond, dead like me, star trek (everything but DS9. and enterprise. not that you could really consider that a star trek show.), northern exposure, macgyver... and yes yes, a few that are still on tv. about half the stuff on adult swim, the daily show and colbert report of course... i really miss real time with bill maher. i'll watch most anything on discovery channel.

food: have you been to sticky rice? if not, go. you'll thank me later. my vegetarian chili. i can never get enough pizza. and i put one of two things on pretty much everything i eat...mushrooms, or crushed red peppers.

The six things I could never do without

i think this is crappy question, so i'm going to replace it with some of my favorite fortune cookie fortunes. here goes...

1. don't panic. 2. its better to be the beak of a hen than the tail of an ox. 3. customer service is like taking a bath; you have to keep doing it. 4. in order to discover who you are, first learn who everybody else is. you're whats left. 5. a carrot a day, may keep cancer away. 6. common sense is not so common. 7. you will have a party. 8. digital circuits are made from analog parts. 9. somewhere, deep inside, we all can fly. 10. never forget a friend, especially if he owes you.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

finding a new job. i've pretty much mastered the art of the barista, and it'd be nice to find something new to challenge me. and the pay increase of a non-retail/food service job would be nice too.

travel. i could travel for the next few years, experiencing the culture, eating the foods, exploring nature and watching the wildlife... ah, yeah...

On a typical Friday night I am

LAME. another boring question. i mean, how interesting can an anwser to this one be? so, i'm replacing it, too. instead, i will now answer the question "Who would you most like to meet?" here goes.

penn and teller. john cleese. jennifer connelly. joanna newsom. viggo mortenson (i mean, did you ever watch the special features from lord of the rings? hes like the nicest guy you've ever met.) jackie chan. david bowie. ron perlman. ed norton. wallace shawn. jean reno. tony bourdain. i had always always wanted to meet steve irwin. when he died, i was crushed, and depressed for a month. and sickened that anna nicole got more press coverage than he did. what the hell.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

oh i dunno. another lame question. i've read too few good answers. if anybody wants to suggest a better and more interesting question, send it my way.

You should message me if

for any reason really. as i said, i'm on the hunt for friends in the richmond area. just say hello already, yeah?
