My Self-Summary
But in ourselves, that we are underlings."
I see this world as a beautiful place that's alive with possibilities.
There's much to love about it and its kaleidoscope of flawed people, although I've met many who may not necessarily see it that way.
I give my smiles freely, my laughter in abundance, my love & friendship from the heart and believe the best of people (until proven otherwise) because life is too short to spend your time counting and wondering "what if".
I believe that fate is what we make of it.
Sometimes, when I find myself struggling with my rose-coloured glasses, I close my eyes and summon memories of a moonlit walk, of cotton candy and swirling carnival lights, of sober silliness and breathless efferverscent laughter, of fresh-cut grass through the back of my shirt, of wind and sand in my hair and endless roadtrips to nowhere - Memories that I could not have formed without the help of my dear friends - until the magic melts my troubles away to reveal the things which are most important to me.
When I'm not working 35,000 feet up in the air in a titanium House of Flying Daggers (where I feel like a fish out of the water, really), I love going through photos taken during my travels, sniffing out old arcade/computer games, pouring attention on affection-starved domestic animals, eating good food, sketching, writing, going on roadtrips, building legos, making transistors on PS2 motherboards fly from one end of the room to the other at the touch of a solder gun (Alright, so this happened only once.. I ruined 4 boards before I got it right - fortunately, the friend who owns the shop let me get away with a smile and an "oops"!)
... and sometimes, just plain old sitting at a quiet spot with one or two close friends, reminiscing, sharing ideas, perspectives, experiences, and all our hopes and dreams for the near future.
I can make fast friends, and have many.. but I haven't found many people I can really open up to, or with whom I can take a conversation beyond a very superficial level. It gets lonely sometimes. I treasure every moment I get to leave this soulless country and into the wilderness. I can relate to the sentiments Belle from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" expresses in the first part of the movie, and I find that Gaston character particularly hilarious.. he reminds me of some people I've met in the past.. :-)
p.s. I know it's a dating site and all, but I'm only here to make strictly platonic friends.. please don't expect a response if you mail me about anything else. I generally keep myself busy and travel a lot, so it's hard for me to reply every message (that's why I've turned off the IM function, it got a bit too much for me).. but I will try, so bear with me. :-)
What I’m doing with my life
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Never Let Me Go, War Horse, Black Beauty, Aliens vs. Predator trilogy, Mozart and the Whale, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Romeo & Juliet. I read mostly non-fiction.
Movies :
Erin Brockovich, Donnie Darko, Pan's Labyrinth, Spirited Away, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Howl's Moving Castle, Silence of the Lambs (there's just something about Hannibal..), Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Pretty Woman, Austin Powers Goldmember, Harold & Kumar Go to WhiteCastle, The Coneheads, Demolition Man, 5th Element, Transformers, Iron Man, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Star Trek : First Contact, Star Trek (2009), Vampire Hunter D, Ghost in the Shell, The Matrix, Predator.
Music :
I listen to a wide range of music.. from game music to classical to industrial/metal. Commercialized crap doesn't work for me unless its satire hits the nail on the proverbial head.. I like my music with real soul. :-)
Food :
I have to admit I've always been a bit sensitive in this department.. I love fine food. There's nothing like a good dish with simple ingredients but a lovely sophisticated flavour. I appreciate the taste of fine wines but I drink sparingly.
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
That's why it's private. :-)
You should message me if
...you are able to make choices independent from the bleating herd..
...you come without selfish intent, as a genuine friend.
p.s. Anyone not a sociopath, with a Spock-like proficiency in critical thinking & the English language would be *most* welcome. :-)
