My self-summary
I am a friendly, honest and well-mannered guy, and a firm believer in the saying, "treat others as you would treat yourself". Hoping to meet a similar lady.

Music is a big thing in my life, and I absolutely love all types (except modern R & B - Beyoncé etc). I have recently got into Lindy Hop/Swing, although I'm rubbish at the dancing! I am very lucky to have a great family who are into all sorts of music.

I'm also fascinated by astronomy, and science in general. How humans have managed to figure out to see these things is amazing enough, but then the complexity and scale of things such as Quantum Theory, the size of the universe or its shape etc.

I am very loyal to friends and family, and I love meeting new people - after all, "a stranger is only a friend you haven't met". I always try and make everyone feel involved in a conversation and I store a lot of useless facts to pass on!

Love going to pubs (preferably the old style, where all the food you can get is a packet of crisps or peanuts, not these new gastro ones), live bands and 80's/Indie clubs!
What I’m doing with my life
Work at a refuse and recycling company, looking to move onwards and upwards.

The only bad thing are the working hours (4pm - 1am) and the fact that two weeks out of five, I'm working the weekend.
I’m really good at
Guessing what a song is within 1-2 seconds. Shame 'You Bet!' isn't on TV anymore ;-)

Knowing what country a flag represents. I find it interesting to know the history and symbolism involved.

Thinking I sound like Johnny Cash (particularly after a few brews!).
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently I've got big eyes (?!) and I'm quite tall.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books
Mainly stuff from when I was younger, such as Adrian Mole, A Hitchicker's Guide To The Galaxy, all the Roald Dahl books, all the 2001 Space Odyssey books. Read mainly factual books nowadays.

Movies
80's action films (Predator being one of my favourites, followed by all the Rocky films, Total Recall, Rambo etc), spooky films (Eyes Wide Shut, Mulholland Drive, The Shining etc) and films such as Sin City, Fire Walk With Me, Duel and Ghostbusters.

Shows
Twin Peaks (massive fan), Horizon, Family Guy, The IT Crowd, Father Ted, Little Britain, Spaced, Red Dwarf etc.

Music
Johnny Cash, JD McPherson, The Smiths, Inspiral Carpets, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Inkspots, Eric B. & Rakim, Seasick Steve, James Brown, Public Enemy, Nirvana, Guns n' Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Lead Belly, Chemical Brothers, Stone Roses, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Beastie Boys, Queen, Link Wray, 90's House, 80's Pop, Jazz, Burlesque, Motown, Rock & Roll, Old Skool, Classical, Opera, Ska, Dub Reggae, Surf, Alternative - basically everything apart from modern R & B.

Food
Sunday Roast, fry up, stew, bacon cabbage and potatoes, pork chops, curries, chili con carne etc.
The six things I could never do without
1. Going to the record shop and finding hidden gems.

2. Pubs - particularly ones with a bit of character and a friendly bunch of people.

3. Gigs - it's great knowing that everyone else there loves the music you love and hearing your favourite tunes blasted out full volume.

4. All my CDs stacked up so that they're level, with the newest at the top (probably classed as OCD, but what the hell!)

5. iPod - literally listen to it for hours (although I do often wonder why I'm flicking past tunes I put on myself?!)

6. My Irish genealogy - gives me great drinking stamina, a love of potatoes and a plethora of useless but funny sayings, such as "Die dog or shite the hatchet"!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If there's so many single people on here, where on earth are they in real life?! Why aren't there bunches of single guys and girls in the various places I go to?

How humans have invented so much amazing stuff and how we are so ahead of any other living thing.

Music to buy - I'd be rich if I could calm it down a bit!
On a typical Friday night I am
Either working or down the pub. I'm trying to explore London more and appreciate living in the greatest city in the whole world.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I could be classed as a 'Twihard'. Read all the books, seen all the films and have all the music (it's all my sister's fault!).
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 31–38
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You're up for a few pints and/or bit of music, feel that we have a number of similarities and you don't give a monkey's what someone does for a living.
