My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi. I've been told my profile is a bit on the long side but, the way I see it, if you read to the end you have proven yourself to have a real attention span and we probably have real things to talk about. On your mark, get set, read....

In an increasingly impersonal world I am doing what I can to make it a friendlier one. If I have spare change, I give it to the next worthy panhandler. When I dine out (which is far too often) I always leave a 20% tip (or better) and tell my server "Thank you." I'll hold the door if I know someone is behind me. Having class is as important to me as is having self-respect and "other"-respect*. (*Trademark pending) Life is too short to be low-budget, mundane or pedestrian. It is why we live here.

Politically left of center, I have no patience for the right-wing hyperbolic nut-jobbery which seems to be a major requirement of conservative elected officials. The only news I can stand to watch on TV is The Daily Show or The Colbert Report (RIP). Anything else important I can see on my Google news feed.

I'm looking for a partner in fun for music, film, theater, dining, conversation, wine tasting, traveling, sharing, talk about my day, etc. You know, the fun stuff. I give as well as I get (especially w/ wine. Just ask my friends.)

I moved to our city to see great film, hear great bands and meet and befriend great people. I sincerely hope the woman I love will also embrace these experiences.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a software developer with an IT services firm in Midtown that is specializing in the music industry. When I came to New York I was hoping to jump right into the IT side of finance. VERY glad that didn't happen.

I've started doing one destination vacation per year. Two years ago it was Paris, last year Hawaii and this year is looking good for New Orleans. I'll avoid Marti Gras however.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Setting up home audio/video systems. Ok at pairing wine w/ food.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
is that I've got lots of height and can reach high places. Oh and as I get older I've heard from a few that I'm looking more and more like Clint Eastwood. That may be but the only chairs I talk to have people sitting in them.

Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Edgy film
Compelling music
Interesting food
Regular peace & quiet

Why do otherwise intelligent people adopt nonsensical belief systems?

Why doesn't Apple support Flash?

Why does cable TV still use channel numbers?

Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii?

When and how will Shamy consummate their relationship?

So if according to Genesis, God created the earth, the day, the night and only AFTER those created the heavenly bodies INCLUDING the sun, where did the light for day come from?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
My Friday nights are NEVER typical. In NYC, they really shouldn't be. The first or second Friday of the month are sometimes spent at an event called Nerd Nite in Brooklyn. Look it up.

On various summer weekends I'm usually off to Long Beach Island, NJ.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been know to call people "Dude" more than my age would normally allow.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Do you get really seriously bored by things like Twilight, Jason Mraz, Celine Dion, Justin Bieber or most Disney product (Toy Story and Aladdin excluded)? Do you get seriously excited by gritty New York City? Were you ever a fan of the 80s downtown punk scene (not a requirement but nice if you were)? Do you know the difference between and regular guitar and a bass guitar? Would you rather rock out than mellow out? And finally, have you ever been to a show where you could tell that the band/performer was only there for a paycheck?

I realize that many women on this site may have been traumatized by some of the treatment they have received in the online dating world so let me assure you about some things. I'm socially normal, have lots of friends, have good manners and an actively functioning conscience. My first choice is to do the right thing even when it's the painful option but I won't allow myself to be a doormat. I always pay on the first date and have never been characterized as cheap. But that being said, I'm also human and like all humans I may stumble once in a while. And if I see you stumble, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and even extend my hand to help. I believe in respect and courtesy so if we meet, I'll always lead with those and not try to "game" attraction through mistreatment. If that all sounds "too nice", you'll need to keep looking.

Like most of us, I'm looking for chemistry. But even at my advanced age, I still find it to be nebulous and mysterious. Like all things that are truly worthwhile, it's difficult to find and not always easy to recognize but I'm willing to do what's necessary to achieve it. So give me a chance. I'll return the favor.

With all of the above we now come to the "not to haves" and "must haves" and we all have those. I respect the vegan vegetarian lifestyle but it doesn't work with my own. I like my family and friend's children but I'm childfree and have no interest in having or supporting a child. The same goes for dogs. They require too much maintenance. If you watch Fox News at all, sorry. I have a twice a week gym habit so please have some kind of fitness regime. If you thought the movie Pulp Fiction was too violent, I get that but you won't get me. I'm ok w/ family or friends that have found religion but that isn't where I'm at. My only spiritual belief is what goes around comes around. But most importantly please be gainfully employed.

And since this is probably the um-teenth profile you've read, here is some comic relief:

What did Sarah Palin get on her SATs?

What's the difference between Kenny G and a machine gun?
A machine gun only repeats itself 30 times.

What's the difference between God and Donald Trump?
God doesn't think he's Donald Trump.

Why do Born-again Christians make good Republicans?
They're already good at believing fairy tales.
