My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My friends say, I have a "wide range of interests and easy going personality", am "a great conversationalist and a great listener", and a "very kind, helpful and fun person".
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I have been living in Korea for five years and - after lecturing at a university - currently work with an NGO.

I love to travel, to take photos, and to write articles on my journeys in Korea.

At the weekends I play Squash, go hiking, meet friends, and go to concerts, exhibitions, or the movies.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
dancing on my own (just started a Kizomba course and try to become better at couple dances - would you like to join?), speaking in front of groups, and putting together music mixes.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
are my blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Novels: Alan Pauls - The Past; Jonathan Safran Foer - Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close; Haruki Murakami - South of the Border, West of the Sun; Philip Roth - The Dying Animal; Milan Kundera - The unbearable lightness of being; Heinrich Böll - Irisches Tagebuch; Else Lasker-Schüler - Die Gedichte. Non-fiction: Malcolm Gladwell, Ken Robinson.

Authors I met: Reiner Kunze (at his place - my students had translated one of his works), David Mitchell (in Hamburg - he read from "The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet": amazing language), and Salman Rushdie (in Oxford, with snipers on the rooftop opposite of the Students' Union building, where he read from "The Ground Beneath Her Feet" - scary circumstances!).

Movies: The secret life of Walter Mitty; Before Sunrise / Sunset / Midnight; Paris after Midnight; Amélie; Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter ... and Spring; Bend it like Beckham; Il Mare; Backbeat; Dead Poets Society; The Boat; Chariots of Fire; To catch a thief; Casablanca.

Music: Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, Ralph Towner, Gregory Porter, Nina Simone, Sophie Hunger, William Fitzsimmons, Chairlift, Blumfeld, Jochen Distelmeyer, Tori Amos, Björk, David Bowie, Phillip Boa & The Voodooclub, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Rolling Stones ... ECM label, radio eins (Berlin), Nordwest Radio, BBC ... Do you know a club in Seoul, where they play Adult Rock / Soul / Funk ... (no rap / hip hop / house / techno)? If so, please let me know!

Art: I recently went to the Leeum (but didn't have enough time, so I want to go there again) and to the Edvard Munch exhibition, which was great. Earlier this year, I saw Annie Leibovitz' photos - great stuff! In general, I find modern art more exciting than old masters.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
German bread
Passport
Music
MacBook
iPhone
You

(in no particular order)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
North Korea. Coming from a once divided country, I work to see reunification happening in Korea, too.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
going out, meeting friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't care about cars, don't own one, and have no plans to buy one (as long as I have no kids). I prefer traveling by bicycle, metro, and train. I also normally don't watch TV - unless the Football World Cup is taking place ... ;-)
