My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Arts and sports, hiking and dancing, dining and cooking, active and contemplative, outrageous and courteous - all parts of this package. I love music from Bach to W.C.Clark, and things adventurous: snorkeling over coral reefs, hiking the hills, driving top down on a snaky road, doing the NY Times Sunday crossword in ink. And dancing, on the smooth wood dance floor at Donn's Depot or grooving on the grass at a blues festival.

I enjoy every kind of tasty dish: salmon, sushi, barbeque, TexMex, Peking duck, and my own version of Caesar salad, to name a few. Let's share a bottle of wine - and chopping duties - while we put together a wonderful dinner, dine by candlelight.

I'm impulsive and spontaneous, yet reliable and responsible - a man of both action and reflection. I laugh easily and love to please; in the best relationship, one gets pleasure by giving it.

I'm looking for someone passionate, uninhibited, and with a zest for life. Someone proud in mind and body, amused by the outrageous; fit, active, savvy. Let's kick up our heels, do things we hadn't planned on - let's look at a map, find a road we don't know, and drive to the end, together.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Retired, I have the time to enjoy the beautiful days here. Hiking is good around Austin. Volunteer at The Long Center about once a month, at One World Theatre weekly or more, get to attend fabulous presentations. Drive in the country with the top down (spring and fall, not under 55 F or over 90 F), turn some laps at speed at Harris Hill Road Course, occasionally work their special events. Travel, last was Victoria, BC, next is to be sailing the Greek Isles, still need a companion for that adventure. More . . .
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Dancing, cooking, driving, sailing, hiking, pool. Solving problems. Listening and talking. Caring, touching, responding, perceiving, acting in reponse to those perceptions. Being in the moment and spontaneous, inventive, even during a carefully planned activity.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I look, act much younger than my age (yah, they all say that -- but a stranger watching my moves during a early R&R concert a few months back was shocked when I told him I was over 50 -- but it was dark in there), that I'm in shape (no beer belly here!)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: Far too many to list. My fiction collection, alphabetically, goes from Eric Ambler to Eric Zencey, ran out of shelf space so I use the library. Current read: Christopher Hitchens' memoir, "Hitch 22". Started with a library copy, purchased it instead, it will be read and reread for years.
Movies: Anything good. Most romantic movie ever made: "Casablanca". One of the few really intellectually challenging scf-fi movies: "Inception". Even "chick flics", have seen "Shirley Valentine", more than once. Avoided "Love Story" very deliberately, understand it to be even soppier than "Steel Magnolias" or "How to Make an American Quilt".
Shows: Interesting, devious plots. Some of Zack's stuff. Also the outrageous; the recent Texas Burlesque Festival was superb! Dance troups -- last, next was/will be Argentine Tango performances.
Music: Omit today's "rock", vicious children's sounds (won't even call it music), New Age, and rap, I like almost everything else, from Bach to Thorogood. Blues, jazz (except smooth), classical (except Debussy), opera (except Wagner), good guitar, piano, voice . . .
Food: Anything well prepared, not boring, and not still moving. (We won't discuss the life left in an oyster as it leaves the shell . . .)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Good food.
Good wine.
Good music.
Good health.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

Only after we know each other very very well ;)

You want someone to enjoy life with. No, we need not parallel our likes and dislikes. In fact, it would be fun for each of us to being something new to the other. If you laugh easily, you're for me.
