I grew up in Chicago but left for college and have returned only
for the occasional visit. I've lived in the west and southwest
United States as well as the east coast. I love living in New York,
especially the West Village for its smaller scale and sense of
community. I practiced law in Boston but left to head a natural
foods company in the southwest. After building the company to a
notable size, it was sold to a large competitor, giving me the
freedom to explore new places and activities, granting me a
wonderful sense of freedom. I enjoy travel and making new
What I’m doing with my life
Remembering that it doesn't last forever, i.e., making the most of
I’m really good at
Maintaining an optimistic spirit.
The first things people usually notice about me
A quiet confidence and my generosity.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have a degree in literature and have thus read many of the
classics. I can't pigeonhole my literary tastes as I will read
fiction, short stories and novels as well as non fiction,
concerning current events as well as historical subjects. Currently
enjoying books on American history. I just finished reading Devil
in the White City about the Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in
1893 as well as a biography of the photographer Edward Curtis. And
recently read The Island at the Center of the World about the early
Dutch colony in what is now Manhattan. As for food, my tastes are
also eclectic, but good food, prepared and presented well is always
enjoyed. I have been interested in film for many years and enjoy
foreign films and indies most. Enjoy the films of Fellini, Satyajit
Ray and the Dardenne brothers.
The six things I could never do without
I truly value my friendships, many of which have been cultivated
over many years. I could not live without the opportunity to travel
and visit other countries and cultures.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The next great adventure.
On a typical Friday night I am
Possibly dining at a new restaurant I've read about or heading to
the theatre to see a new drama. Or preparing a nice meal at home
before settling in with a rental from Netflix. I could go on...I
have no set routine but enjoy being out and about as much as I
enjoy the ocassional quiet evening.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I"ll whisper it in your ear tonight.
You should message me if
You are something of a free spirit (but grounded and down to earth)
who enjoys living and adventure as well as the simple things. You
should be clever and a bit wise with a sense of humor and be able
to express yourself. You should know a little about a lot of things
and a lot about a few.
