My self-summary
While I'll be thrilled to meet/connect with other musicians, motorcyclists, veterinary professionals, medical professionals, haters of the banal, or home improvers here, I'm really looking for a lover/romantic interest right now.

I am intense, smart, and complex. I'm generally in a good mood. Stupidity, banality, and pettiness irritate the hell out of me, but you have to be really mean or really unfair to really anger me.

I'm working on a bucket list of CA things -- so far, I've done Yosemite, ocean fishing -- LOVE IT, Sequoia Nat. Forest, and actually rode my beloved horse friend on the beach on Central Coast. Suggestions of "can't miss" things are welcome! Hoping to make some more trips up to SF -- loved it, and it's only 200 miles from me.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a fairly new human healthcare worker and working nights...hopefully not for long, and it's only 3 nights a week. I do need to find a hospital job in my field, so am starting to focus on that. I have weekends free!

Music -- I play guitar, noodle on mandolin, and am a good vocalist. I collaborate a lot with others, and have several projects going on. Right now working with a bluegrass group, and a trio I've worked with for a long time.

Motorcycling --my 50th birthday present to myself was the rehab of my 1984 Honda Shadow, which sat in a garage for 11 years. Her namewas Petunia, and we tore up the local roads from March to December. Alas, we had a mishap on some sand in early December. Petunia has gone to the big salvage yard...and I have a new ride...see the pix.

In February 2013, I decided to lose a couple of lbs. and get back in shape. See results....
I’m really good at
My animal medical work (I love it, just couldn't retire on it, so I went back to school for human medicine).
Finding something in common with people.
Crisis intervention/support
Bouncing back, reinventing, restarting
Talking
Figuring out stuff
Singing
The first things people usually notice about me
Venue dependent. I'm kind to my patients and they feel comfortable with me. I'm a reasonably good musician. I love love love a challenge (e.g., getting around those corners a little faster, picking out that melody amidst the clutter of four other instruments, singing in a lower key than I ever have).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I will read almost anything. Books that have really touched me include Richard Bach, weirdly enough "The Secret," and other self help books. I read, therefore I can.

Movies -- anything except the "dumb and dumber variety" is worth at least one attempt at viewing.

Music -- classical, folk/acoustic, pop, rock. Not into a genre.
If I like it, it gets downloaded. If I like it a lot, I'll try to play it.
My Ipod has everything on it from Jerry Garcia to Stephen Foster, and the band's set lists are a bit crazy.

I like food in general. I will NEVER EVER turn down SUSHI, SASHIMI, or any seafood. My cooking tends towards comfort/simple foods, but I try to do them very well, and do combinations that even the pickiest/youngest diners will like. Why? Because, to me, the greatest compliments are "Can you make that again?" or "Can you tell me how you do it?"
The six things I could never do without
Answered under protest. I think OKC should just change this question to "Name six things that are really important to you or six things that you would immediately replace, should they be broken or lost." And, I'm going to point out to each and every one of you...your children, your loved ones (regardless of species) are NOT, I repeat, not THINGS. Consequently, I do not limit my answers to things...instead, I'll label it "Stuff I would not want to do without."

In no particular order...
Support and affection of loved ones -- including the aforementioned daughter, friends (regardless of gender), and critters.
A sense of humor
Hopeful dreams or dreamy hopes
Literacy
Effort
Choices

Actual things...

Books
Musical instruments
A decent computer (or, I'm embarassed to say, several).
My Iphone - because it eliminates the need for 1 and 3. I could actually replace them and have more stuff!
Good quality cooking/working utensils -- knives, pots, a tool kit, fire, etc...stuff you do other stuff WITH.
My own little corner --

And, because I was clever enough to use my Iphone for more than one essential...

Oh, never mind...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to pull the next rabbit out of that bottomless hat.

Songs I want to do, who I want to do them with, and how to do them.

The musical projects in progress (2 bands), the next hike, and lately, more and more, when Mr. Right is going to appear!
On a typical Friday night I am
The answer was -- "watching two patients sleep and assessing whether they need treatment." YAY, I have weekends now! My new schedule is Mon/Tues/Wed nights. YAY! Now, it's bluegrass band until 6:30 or 7:00, and then the pub or a sunset glass of wine with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a girly side that wants to get out more!
