I am well rounded, musical, and patient.

My Self-Summary

My name is Tony and I'm a relatively new graduate RN who is greatly confused about where all the nursing jobs are. None the less, I'm enjoying everything that life is offering me. Some activities that I really enjoy are running/hiking, biking (trail and mountain), geocaching, kayaking, camping, rock climbing, skiing (all kinds), and snowboarding (I'm learning). I'm pretty sure I"m a geek. I took Calc., Anatomy and Physiology I, and Physics II - not because they were in my major - but because I thought they would be fun. I very much enjoy logic puzzles and problem solving. If there was one question I asked myself more than any other, it would be "I wonder how that works?", or "I wonder why that happened?". There's hardly a question I won't answer - so feel free to ask to your heart's content.
Now in German
Since I am required to have at least 100 words in this field to save the other edits I just made to my profile. Here we go...

Ich heisse Tony Knutson. Ich bin vierundzwanzig Jahre alt. I moechte fussball, klavier spielen, laufen, schilaufen, kart spielen, und musik. Ich kann so-so Deutsch verstehen, aber Ich kann nur ein bisten Deutsch sprechen. Mein lieblings faech ist musik. Ich habe zwei brueder, achtundzwanzig Jahre alt und einunddreissig Jahre alt.

So there you have it - the german I was able to retain from high school. Unfortunately I think that my german teacher would be a little saddened by this.

What I’m doing with my life

As nursing jobs have been a bit tough to come by, I've been enjoying my passion in life - music. So far, I've been involved in five musicals this year, with two more productions to come (Sound of Music and A Christmas Carol) coming before Christmasl. I'm living on the family (hobby) farm, and doing more work around the farm than we usually do in a year (I think my dad realizes that I may not be around next spring and summer and is trying to make good use of this free labor). I'm about 24 credits (at least 14 in lessons) short of my BA in music - so I plan to finish that once I've settled into a nursing job. Right now I'm just waiting to see job postings come back, and in the mean time, doing something that I really enjoy. Recently I've been subbing for Triton School District in the middle school nurse's office, and that's been pretty fun. Besides, who can turn down a pay check? I've learned to appreciate the phrase "...just 'be'."

I’m really good at

Memorizing music is a definite strong suit for me. I'll have a piece memorized before I can play it all the way through. It's really just my crutch for my poor sight-reading ability. I can read music just fine - I took four semesters of theory, honestly - I think that my processor, or interface between that and my fingers can't handle the data fast enough.

I like to think that I'm a good musician. The piano pieces that I've prepared I think are approaching concert quality. I've been drumming for the last 14 years with various groups - and I can sit down and play along with just about anything. It's interesting though - I can sight read drum music pretty well. Maybe it's just piano that overloads my brain.

Being a jack of all trades - there's LOTS of things I do. You can be the judge of if I'm the master of none or not, but I probably have some experience doing almost anything you might name. Try me - it will be fun! :o)

The first things people usually notice about me

I've been told by a friend that I have a "cool confidence" vibe that I give off. However, as close second on that could be "Your shoes are untied...." I, contrary to common belief, am aware of this. If I'm going from my front door, to my car, to someone else's front door - my shoes will most likely not be tied, unless I can get them on without untying them. I'm generally a very kind person and am very slow to anger.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I think my favorite book of all time is The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. I was hooked on Harry Potter after book three though - fun series. I just finished up Angels and Demons - talk about a action read. Movies...hmmm...as with almost everthing in my life - I have a rather eclectic taste in movies. Among my favorites are Patch Adams, Phenomenon, Polar Express, Green Mile, Shrek(s), Aladdin, and Nightmare before Christmas, and Con Air. I like just about any kind of music, with the general, but not absolute, exception of rap and country - there are songs of both genres that I enjoy. I don't have many favorites, but Beethoven is my favorite piano music to play, and usually to listen to. I'm not a hard sell on food, but if I had to pick a favorite - I think it would be either a taco bar at home, or Outback steak and sides.

The six things I could never do without

I'm going to agree with some other profiles I've read and say that people are not things. In no particular order...

1) my computer
2) cell phone
3) my car
4) my bike
5) my backpack
6) music

On a typical Friday night I am

a) in rehearsal
b) in a performance
c) at my best friend Adam's house - sometimes his brother's.
d) hanging out with my brother(s)

I'll stop by one of the bars in town every now and then, but for the most part it's to people watch. Quite interesting to just sit back and observe the social behavior of Homo sapien intoxicus.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I just think it feels weird to sleep naked...
