My self-summary
Hi there,

I am looking for a lifelong partner, someone to "be" with, someone who I could support in reaching Her life goals, in making her life easier and more comfortable. She and I would be best friends and lovers. We'd live a healthy life. Our loved ones would be better that we were together and a kind of team. We would co-create and experience new ways of enjoying life. Together. Note: I have a home in the San Francisco Bay area but in April, 2014 I will be moving to Italy to learn the language/culture [I am a dual U.S.-Italian citizen].
What I’m doing with my life
When I worked I was one of those people who was "Go-Go-Go." I never thought I would retire, but I have, and I am so enjoying the activities of daily living: taking a walk, making a meal, keeping a household, contact with family and friends, watching a movie or reading a book, volunteer work from time to time, travel. I've just become an Italian citizen [dual, U.S. too], so thinking of living in Europe for awhile at some point. But my main goal, my purpose for now, is to find a life partner.
I’m really good at
Well, I'm good at being open and non judgmental, at cooking (not great . . . but, good), and eating, too. I'm a good listener and speaker, conversationalist and writer. I have excellent corporate-type skills, analytic skills (not a handyman). I'm good at taking unpopular stands in group settings, at being calm and letting go in a 1:1 setting, at staying focused, at teaching, at taking the good with the bad, at acknowledging and accepting what is, at admitting mistakes, and now and then being silly (e.g., the languages I listed that I can speak "poorly" are languages I speak not at all -- I can list many more [ha ha]).

I'm really good at coming across as cerebral, logical, analytical when at my core I'm holistic, emotional and intuitive. I'm INFJ.
The first things people usually notice about me
People say I'm intense. I think of myself as "easy going," maybe comparing myself to how I used to be. But when I say that, I get "no way." [Really intense people into their career (people like how I used to be) do find me laid back.] I might come across as assertive and articulate.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm reluctant to "rank" things, but I'll go along with the question (Oh! I can seem argumentative, but I'm really not.)

Movies: Godfather I and II, It's a Wonderful Life, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Music Man, Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Lake House, Braveheart, Die Hard series (What can I say? It's a guy thing), Moonstruck, The Wizard of Oz, The King and I, Schindler's List, My Dinner with Andre, Goldfinger, To Kill a Mockingbird, Life is Beautiful, Casablanca [Did I say I can go on a little too much? I'll stop here. Whew!]

Books: Walden Pond, Plato's Apology, Twenty-Three Tales by Tolstoy, biographies (Truman, McCarthur), Atlas Shrugged, Of Mice and Men, Hamlet, Loving What Is, The Iliad and The Odyssey, The Nature of Things (Lucretius), Slaughterhouse Five, Siddhartha, Oedipus Rex, Plutarch's Lives, and more.

Shows: Les Mis, The Food Network, Jon Stewart, Star Trek, Star Trek Next Generation, Bill Moyers, Charlie Rose, The Dick Van Dyke Show

Music: Josh Groban, James Taylor, Carole King, Cat Stevens, Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, the Beatles, Don McLean, The Righteous Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, many vocalists and much more.

Food: All of it. Ethnic, Sushi, Steak, Seafood, Mexican, Thai, Italian. I love it all. [I love liver and I'm not Jewish. Who knew?]
The six things I could never do without
Hmmm. What a question. Of course, again, I think I could learn to do without anything if need be, but quibbling aside and ignoring bio requirements like air, essential amino acids, etc., and not in any order:

The love of my life
My children (adults, by the way)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything, and also this: what matters, really. To me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching Bill Maher on HBO (he's so good, though a little harsh sometimes)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Hmmm. OK, it's this. I think it's politically correct today, or maybe more accurate to say it purports to show more centeredness, self reliance, that you have your act together to say, "You know, I don't 'need' anyone. I'm fine being alone, but I would 'prefer' to share my life with someone else. I don't believe that at all, for me. I need to find a life partner to share life together with. [And I also admit that I sometimes end sentences with a preposition.]
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 45–65
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
1) If You feel we might be compatible and share relationship goals,
2) You're less focused on finding someone who shares your current common interests (activity partner) and more focused on: a) co-developing a way of life with, and b) developing a deep love and intimacy with -- a lifelong partner,
3) You have time for this kind of relationship, and
4) You really want it.
