My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Mix together a child's curiosity with a 20-something's wanderlust and an engineer's drive to find the best solution. Now add a frat boy's obsession with his favorite team and the associated trash talking. Throw in your grandma's knitting skills and penchant for an early-to-bed, early-to-rise schedule. Top it all off with a Midwestern accent and a blunt, cutting sense of humor and you've got a close approximation of what I'm all about.

My life has taken some twists and turns that I never, ever could have imagined, and it has taught me that sometimes you just say yes and drive over the crest of that insane San Francisco hill and trust that there's road on the other side and that it will take you in the general direction you want to go. Or at least somewhere pretty interesting.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Living it. At this moment that means enjoying San Francisco and reconnecting with my friends and my apartment here. It recently meant traveling to some of the most rural and crazy places on the map to manage construction projects. I am greatly enjoying having my Chucks and blazers back in rotation and my steel toes and hard hat in a storage bin.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Being loud. Making killer buttermilk pancakes from scratch. Being overly enthusiastic about small things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
In the room: My big smile and bigger laugh.

In conversation: My Sconnie accent. I'll probably have a little upper-Midwestern lilt for the rest of my life.

Up close: Woah, your eyes are dark! Where are your pupils?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Currently reading: The Wind Up Bird Chronicles, War and Peace (I swear I'm going to finish it this time) and The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. The last books I read include: Stephen King's On Writing, The Man Who Saved the Union (Ulysses Grant biography), All Quiet on the Western Front, The Red Badge of Courage, American Lion (biography of Andrew Jackson), The Great Gatsby, American Gods, The Help, The Graveyard Book, and Big Fish. On the reading list: The Canterbury Tales (started, not finished); Wuthering Heights (also half-finished); Team of Rivals.

Movies: Into Temptation, most any Ken Burns documentary (The Civil War is a favorite), Good Will Hunting, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Social Network, Finding Nemo, Gone With the Wind, Rear Window, North by Northwest, Dead Poet's Society, Inherit the Wind

Shows: Orange is the New Black, Mad Men, The League, Frasier, Game of Thrones (although the books are better, as always), Entourage, No Reservations, South Park, Jeopardy, Archer, Downton Abbey, The Newsroom, Project Runway

Music: Depends on my mood. Currently on a Haim / Bastile / Mackelmore kick. At work I'm usually jamming to my Florence + the Machine and Ellie Goulding Pandora stations, which translates into Lana del Ray, Mumford & Sons, Passion Pit, Lily Allen, and Josh Pyke. I also like Everlast, Johnny Cash, Death Cab for Cutie, Eminem, and Blink182.

Food: my dad's buttermilk pancakes, pomegranates, corn on the cob fresh from a roadside stand, sushi, homemade ice cream, and every pastry ever.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My watch (I feel naked without it!)
Books
A pen and nice journal
Music
Sugar (seriously, diabetes would be a fate worse than death for me)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Where my next work project might be, and what it'll be.

Why don't we have a teleportation system yet? Seriously?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out and about with my fantastic roommates visiting the neighborhood dive bars and eating tacos. So, so many delicious tacos...

Or I'm curled up on the couch under a blanket with Netflix and my knitting. But it's definitely one of these two things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My workout playlist is full of Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Ke$ha, and Kanye.
