My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Well, I'm a Liberal Yankee Intellectual, and if any of those are bad words for you that's fine, but you should probably stop here.

I've always been a creative person, and I went to school for Technical Theater (mostly stage management, lighting, and sound) which was a lot of fun but it’s something that has stable, long lasting career potential for a precious few. So onto career #2 - Emergency Medical Services. It keeps me busy, but there's time in there for someone special.

I have a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor and tend to be very deadpan. I’m very eclectic and a bit eccentric – both traits that I’m proud of. I don't like having to be pigeon-holed as an optimist or a pessimist as I am neither, but rather an empirical pragmatist (or a pragmatic empiricist).

I’m always trying to learn something new and pride myself on being able to contribute to conversations about almost any topic. I’m also kind of a giant nerd (a "Cool Nerd" according to this site), but in a lovable, endearing way where I’m not socially awkward, though I am bit introverted (my Myers-Briggs type is INFP - "the healer" but I'm borderline INTP.)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a Paramedic with Cumberland County EMS. It's incredibly demanding but extremely rewarding. It can go from hilarious one minute to horrifyingly tragic the next.

When I'm not doing that I've usually made my escape from Fayetteville and I'm off hiking somewhere, learning something at a science museum or historical site, or getting some culture, as I've found Fayettenam to be largely bereft of all of the above (especially the later).
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
A wide variety of things. If I find something interesting I tend to learn as much about it as I can. I'm pretty handy to have around and can setup/fix most household items. I'm very mechanically and technologically inclined and am happiest when I'm building or creating something. Also 12-lead ECGs.
The first things people usually notice about me

Some say my apparently unique point of view, some say my big brown eyes. I guess it depends what they're looking for.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, The Right Stuff, Bonfire of the Vanities, On The Road, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, 1984, Watchmen (it counts!), Brave New World, Fight Club, Choke, Pygmy, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, Blink, The Long Emergency, World War Z, and everything I've read by Dan Abnett written for the Black Library (NERD ALERT).

Movies... oh I love movies. Everything by Stanley Kurbrick, the Coen Brothers, Guy Riche, Luc Besson, and Christopher Nolan. Also; The Road Warrior, Fight Club, Anchorman, Lucky Number Slevin, Primer, Blade Runner, The Salton Sea, Die Hard (the original), The Boondock Saints (1 and 2), Dark City, The Book of Eli, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, It's Kind of a Funny Story, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Top Gun, The Man From Earth, Watchmen, Moon, Ronin, Stranger Than Fiction, Life as a House, Fantastic Planet, I Am Legend, Super Troopers, The Saint, and the entire James Bond franchise (except Octopussy. Nobody likes Octopussy.)

It didn't ask, but I don't care - some favorite TV shows are: South Park, The Daily Show, House, The Simpsons (seasons 2 - 6 or 7), The Office, Community, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Arrested Development, The Walking Dead, Mythbusters, Law & Order: SVU, Justified, Spooks (MI5 over here), Sherlock, Top Gear, Psych, Futurama, and some that we lost before their time: Jericho, New Amsterdam, Lie to Me, Invader Zim, Sifl & Olly, Firefly, and the best show ever - Mystery Science Theater 3000. I don't watch much television any more though, but not for any ideological reason.

My five favorite bands are The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Guster, The Crystal Method, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Barenaked Ladies. Some other favorites include: Gorillaz, Stone Temple Pilots, Radiohead, Daft Punk, Blonde Redhead, Two Door Cinema Club, Nigel & The Dropout, Sea Wolf, Foo Fighters, Mos Def, Nirvana, Depeche Mode, The Who, Ben Folds (Five), Dave Matthews Band, James Taylor, Econoline Crush, Fatboy Slim, Franz Ferdinand, The Gandharvas, Mustard Plug, Soul Coughing, and Eric Clapton.

Food - Generally my tastes are pretty simple but I love trying new and unusual ethnic cuisines. I'm good with breakfast foods (mad good pancakes) and can grill like a champion. The one dish I excel at - because they were a weekly part of my childhood - is crepes. I generally try to eat healthy but I do have a sweet tooth.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. A strong sense of purpose
2. A comfortable place
3. Music
4. Lactaid
5. Chapstick
6. A creative outlet
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Anything and everything...

How much I need to get out of Fayetteville...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
My schedule is quite outside the norm. I work seven twelve hour shifts every two weeks - Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday the first week, then Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday the second week. So usually recovering from the last two days or preparing for the next two, but if it's my short week I'm up for whatever.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
people love giving me nicknames, and the most recent one has more traction I would like. it's based on my apparently more than passing resemblance to a movie star from a series of terrible, terrible movies, and no I'm not going to tell you what it is.

guess that makes this kind of a tease, doesn't it?

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're a strong, smart woman and could safely be described as "an adorable smart-ass". You like smart, easy-going, geeky guys, and enjoy a good dry sarcastic wit. You like the idea of a guy who could change your car's alternator one minute then tell you the difference between plain white and "eggshell" the next.

You know the difference between "your" and "you're", "their" and "they're", and "know" and "no" (I saw a profile where the young lady did not... it made me a saaaad panda.) And you don't use the word "irregardless" - it's in the dictionary as an actual word but no. Just... no.
