In a matter of just a few days the five day forecast on my iGoogle page has changed drastically.  Temperatures have swung almost thirty degrees in the other direction.  I like the change.

Fall is here.

There is something about the air in the cooler months that makes me feel at peace.  It is as if a blanket descends over the world and quiets everything down.  Leaves change color and fall from their trees.  Grasses shrivel and die.

Conversely, the indoors become a place of warmth and fellowship.  Comfort foods are served on platters and wine or drinks with friends seems to do so much to stave off the bitter chill.  Children make trips to the pumpkin patch.  A friend of mine even says that people come together to make new relationships during the cooler months.

This part of the year is an important time to me because it is the part of the year that I get to see my family and friends from my old life.  The new year is right around the corner.

I too feel that I am in that period of my life where what I was as a boy has almost all fallen from the branches that is my life.  When winter comes I can only hope that the days will in fact be merry and my life filled with the company of those I care about, both new and old.

It is interesting, fun, and challenging. I was very skeptical about it at first. I thought I was going to be embarrassed to tell my friends about it until I found out just how many people sign up and use the various dating sites.

As subscriber bases expand, I think that there's a lot of potential for there to be a dating revolution. Internet dating sites make browsing, contacting, and conversing quick, easy, and relatively painless, although the physical task of dating face-to-face remains just as challenging as before.

It all leaves me with one thought. "What will dating be like ten years from now?"
