My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Don't be intimidated by the length of this profile. I'm looking for the real thing: the one who loves me for exactly who I am, not who they think I might become. So, brave souls, read on!

I'm a brown-eyed, brown-haired girl with a happy smile on her face and a heart ready for true love! I'm a musician and a writer first and foremost and forever, but right now I'm an elementary music teacher, writing teacher, and Spanish teacher until I can go back for my masters and in turn become something better. (This year I'm also teaching psychology.) I'm certified K-12, but I don't plan on teaching forever. My goal is to finish my English degree at The Citadel then pursue something in the field of research and writing. My most recent aspiration is to write for a music classroom magazine. If I thought there was money in it, I'd become a professional musician or conductor. I'd primarily like to work with film scores. I'm a Renaissance Chic. I like to know a lot about everything and almost anything and to expand my knowledge daily.

I love being surrounded by color and being comfy. I don't mind a day or so once in a while lounging in pajamas just to relax. I love that I'm never bored and easily entertained. I must have at least a million hobbies. These include listening to and singing all kinds of music, talking, reading, writing, and laughing. Rarely, but occasionally, when I have the time this also includes coloring, scrap booking, playing board games or card games, or just throwing a ball around outside with my nieces and nephews. I'm not big on watching TV or movies.

I enjoy being outdoors occasionally when it's not so hot like in autumn or spring (as if SC has either of these . . . ). Mainly it's taking a walk, relaxing on a blanket, or an impromptu picnic. I appreciate watching the sunrise, or evening walks on the beach because it would be spending time with someone that means something to me. Sometimes it's nice to just share the quiet. When I retire I want to move to the mountains of North Carolina where I can actually enjoy the seasons.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a teacher, and I love my job, but I can't wait to get back to finish my masters degree. I'm studying for the GRE now so that I can go back to school soon. I'm very eclectic with what I want to study and have studied things such as creative writing, forensics, chemistry, psychology, literature, and law. My favorite thing to learn more about is The Biltmore Estate and I hope to write a book about it one day or to create a trivia game.

I'm also a performing musician. I play actively in my church ensemble and have played in an orchestra. I also continue to play with my college flute choir as an alumnus.

I also try to spend some time every week with my friends and/or family. What little time is left is spent lounging with my dog in my quiet house.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm really good at writing, talking (fast), teaching, learning, and working things out. I'm learning to be a better listener. I'm also good at analogies and quoting cartoon movies like The Emperor's New Groove.

I've been told that I'm good at being there for my friends and not being too self centered.

I'm also a very talented musician playing flute primarily, but also piano and a little bit of saxophone and singing in my spare time. (Can we say karaoke?!?) When I'm in the car, it's usually windows down and volume up so I can belt out all of my favorite songs! I recently participated in a contest to win $500. Didn't win, but I had a great time trying!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The first things people usually notice about me are my smile and my optimistic personality. I talk a lot and I tend to talk fast. (I type really fast, too.) I hope that they also notice my style. I'm the kind of girl that feels sexy in jeans and a top as much as she feels in slacks and a blouse for work. It's ALL about confidence.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite books are classics (Secret Garden, Shakespeare), adolescent fiction, series sets (Lord of the Rings; Harry Potter), and Arthurian legends (Le Mort de Arthur). Basically fantasy and classic fiction with some biographical exceptions (Mrs. Spitfire is a book about Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan). I'm currently reading non-fictional teacher education books.

Favorite movies are 80's movies (Pretty in Pink, Goonies, Top Gun), action -especially spy or criminal action- (True Lies, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Gone in 60 Seconds) and cartoon movies (Ice Age, Emperor's New Groove). I like movies that are quotable. Sometimes I like drama if the cast line up is good (Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Richard Gere, Denzel Washington, Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon, etc). I don't do scary/horror AT ALL, and I don't usually like comedy, but sometimes my friends talk me into it. I'm not really thrilled with the way Hollywood is using everyone's ideas instead of creating new ones. Are we so technologically advanced that we're in a creative funk?

My favorite TV show is NCIS. I have seasons one, two, three and eight of NCIS on DVD. It's definitely one of my favorite free-time fillers. (Who's willing to share 4-7?)

Favorite music is almost ANYTHING out there. My favorites are Smashing Pumpkins, One Republic, Josh Groban, John Powell, Dave Matthews, Matchbox 20 / Rob Thomas, Flyleaf, Tori Amos, Casting Crowns, Imogen Heap, Adele, and Brooks & Dunn, and soundtrack mixes or scores. Basically I have a 30 gig Zune full of all kinds of music I enjoy. I really enjoy instrumental (though not necessarily classical) music. Sometimes the music speaks better without words. I've also been writing several songs of my own on piano, guitar, or flute. Only a few have words, but the ones that don't are still steeped in meaning. Recently, my church worship paster asked if we could perform one of my songs during a service! I'm amazed!

Favorite food is definitely chicken, especially from a Mexican restaurant. I also prefer salty snacks like popcorn, pretzels, and chips. I just don't have much of a sweet tooth, but I have been enjoying Corbett as of late. My favorite tea is Tazo Passion Tea. Who knew hibiscus could taste so good?

Along the line of favorites, I've noticed that I really like self-shot pics of guys in their cars. And I like guys in dress shirts with the sleeves rolled up. I also really like those who claim to have a plethora of knowledge or to be pits of useless knowledge and trivia. I find those kinds of people to be the most interesting.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In case anyone is wondering, God is not included on this list because without him I would be nothing. That's like saying "I could never do without life." And besides, God is not a "thing".
1) music
2) color
3) my hobbies
4) air conditioning
5) comfy clothes/pajamas
6) good toilet paper. I always answer the "stranded on an island" question with toilet paper.
7) sleep
8) thunderstorms Nothing beats a stormy day curled up at home listening to the rain!
9) Something to write on and with.
10) A book with words and pictures.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Mainly I wonder why I can't speak dog. I just sit there and my dog just sits there and we have no idea what the other is trying to say. I have, however, improved in this department.

To be completely honest, my mind never ever shuts off. Lyrics, to-do lists, random thoughts . . . They just keep coming!
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
On a typical Friday (or weekend) night, I'm doing what all of the rest of you are doing: trying to decide whether to go out or stay in. I might just prefer dinner with my mom or nephew, or a drink with the friends. Sometimes it's a book, a movie, or internet, while other times it's putt putt, beach walk, or bowling. Occasionally, it's live music at a local venue.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
This should stay private because it's so awkward, but I'm putting it out there: I end up making friends more easily with older people (like 20 to 40 years older). Because of the huge age difference between myself and my brothers and sisters and myself and my parents, I just find it easier to talk to older adults. So, when it comes to finding "the one" they'll probably have an "old soul".

It's very important to me that we be friends first. Time will tell if there is more to come.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You should message me if you want to be friends with or date a girl who always has a smile for you, something to talk about, never has to be entertained, loves a night in or a night out, and colors inside of the lines but thinks outside of the box.
You should also message me if you enjoy music, reading, writing, teaching, learning, and/or are a vessel of useless knowledge.
