All things considered, I'm four slices of smarm, a hefty chunk of geek-cheese, (<= yeah, I'm chill with the Oxford comma) and a piquant drizzle of effervescence, all jammed into a panini press and sizzled to perfection...well, adequacy.
Growing up, I spent far too much of my time restricted by timidity, but I've recently devoted nearly every waking moment to embracing all the little enjoyable moments I stumble across and jumping in...but not without a bit of preliminary calculation. Granted, I won't rush into serious decisions - when it comes to big-picture matters, I'm analytic to a fault - but I'm generally a pro-fun person.
As far as entertainment's concerned, I basically frolic across the spectrum, though I'm immensely drawn to all things in the musical field. I play a few instruments (violin and, less proficiently, guitar and bass, though I promise I'm not one of those random string-wankery look-how-hawt-I-am musicians) though I've never really found a proper outlet/venue for that sort of thing in a while - if you're musically inclined, I'm entirely in favor of a duet. On the composition side, I'll admit I've only put together a few pieces (most of which has been in the comedy-rock territory...I live to entertain!) but I've certainly engaged in more than my fair share of remix/mashup silliness. I may be a mediocre vocalist, but I'm a heck of a dramatic reader - my EPIC VOICE is unrivaled!
Given my profile name, I'm clearly a bit of a sci-fi fan, and that goes for almost every medium in that respect. I'll curl up with some Verne, Asimov, or Heinlein, but I'll throw some newer, as well as pulpier, stuff into the mix; I'm currently poking at Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Throw some Firefly, Farscape, or...well, of course, Star Trek (except The Animated Series and most of Enterprise - hisssssssss) and I'll stay readily entertained, and will very likely quote along. The same generally goes for film - sure, I love the classics (The Day the Earth Stood Still, Forbidden Planet, then on to the later stuff like 2001: A Space Odyssey and the first two Alien movies) but I'll gladly fall into the fresher films like Looper and Dredd (the 2012 version, not 1995's Judge Dredd...though that one's fantabulous after a few reasonably intense drinks) and even some...well, trash (I'm looking at YOU, Plan 9 from Outer Space!) Of course this also goes for games, both video and tabletop; sometimes you'll catch me in a fresh playthrough of the Mass Effect trilogy or another run of FTL, and other days I'll be in the middle of a Black Crusade campaign. In short, I liek spaceships, pewpew!
Ye gods, am I rambling. I'll try and save a bit for the other topics! Next section, ENGAGE!
