I am funny, thoughtful, and hard-working..
My Self-Summary
I'm a modestly successful, modestly attractive but highly likeable
and dependable guy. A hard worker. I've held the same job for 10
years. I'm in communications -- basically journalism but with a PR
spin. I held my first job (with a daily newspaper) for almost 15
years. I'm a native South Carolinian, somewhat different than your
standard "good old boy" in that I'm fairly progressive politically
yet I consider myself "middle of the road," mainly because I'm also
big on personal responsibility, like the conservatives preach. Not
to scare anyone off with talk of politics: I follow the news of the
day but politics is not what I'm about. My real interests are in
music, movies, books, healthy outdoor activities -- hiking,
camping, swimming, not so much hunting and fishing. "Not that
there's anything wrong with that!" as they said on "Seinfeld."
What I’m doing with my life
Working, working, working. So I need some fun, fun, fun on the
weekends!
I’m really good at
writing, editing, photography, swimming (just slowly!), and people
watching. I'm pretty good at finding absurdity in everyday
situations. That's always good for a laugh, especially when you
feel like crying!
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, my lips probably -- they're a little full and good for
kissing. Some of the ladies I've known have remarked on that. After
that, my soulful and soul-searching eyes and generally open
demeanor seem to make it easy for me to talk to people from all
walks of life. I certainly get to meet them all in my line of work.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Ethnic food (Indian, Mexican, Meditterranean, etc); music ranging
from The Stones to Lady GaGa, disco, '80s and '70s hits, jazz, you
name it and I've probably got it in my collection -- which includes
CDs, cassettes and, yes, even LPs.
I've got lots of favorite movies and books. I'll have to complete
that later but I will say I love bios of musicians, and "Louis
Armstrong: An Extravagant Life" by Laurence Bergreen was one of the
best I've read. Among movies, serious stuff like "You Can Count on
Me" (starring Laura Linney) strikes a chord but I like good old
Hollywood action and comedy too. "No Country For Old Men" and other
Coen brothers' fare is great -- and I've read a lot of Cormac
McCarthy, BTW.
The six things I could never do without
The love of my two sisters, my dog, Sid; and my cat, Ellie. Oh
yeah; and "The Air That I Breathe," as The Hollies sang.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Music -- how I can get what's in my head recorded!
I can play a little, but not well.
I wish I had more time to learn this Digidesign's ProTools program
I have. Then I could fake it better.
Are there any ProTools-savvy ladies out there?
Let's jam!
On a typical Friday night I am
on a date, enjoying myself and hoping to connect with a nice lady.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I wish I hadn't wasted so much time in my life. I don't want to
waste any more.
You should message me if
something I've said here strikes a chord in you.
