After the obligatory rebound period of drinking beer, riding motorcycles, and hanging out with the guys, here I am. Well, actually, I still do all those things, but I've come to realize that there's a big something missing and I'd really like to have someone to go out with and, more importantly, come home to. I'd love to have a partner for the next set of adventures!

In short, I'm ready. I love getting out, finding good food, having some drinks, etc., but I also really look forward to those jammie nights together on the couch surfing Netflix. It's a balance.

I've been overseas a couple times in the last year or so, and it rekindled my love of travel. Get your passport ready because we'll be planning something.

I love my children (two girls, 5 & 7) more than anything in the whole world and I spend a lot of time with them (50%). However, as much as I enjoy being a parent, the baby years are behind me and I won't be making any more of them. If you are looking for someone to have kids with, I'm not your man. Please be certain of this. The ship has been decommissioned, if you catch my drift.

If you already have kids of your own I'm totally ok with that. In fact, I think it's awesome and I'm fully prepared to Brady Bunch it.

That being said, I often pass on messaging otherwise perfect-sounding women because of their stated desire to have kids. If you put this but it really isn't the case for whatever reason, please drop me a line!

I'm a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the space program, working for NASA/JPL. I am way into my job, and as stressful as it can sometimes be, it's still fun and I'm even enjoying myself in some odd way when I'm working on the laptop at home late at night. Probably because I'm in my underwear and drinking beer, but that's beside the point. I'm not a workaholic though, and draw as firm a line as I can between work life and everything else.

I spend a lot of time with my girls doing fun family-type stuff. We go to museums, hike, hit the beach like bosses, and generally goof off as much as possible.

I love to get outdoors when I can. It used to be for lengthy backcountry adventures, but lately it's been more like a fun day hike or a bottle of wine in the park. These days it tends more toward the quick getaway rather than the epic adventure. Weekend car camping is awesome.

I have a couple motorcycles which are my hobby and therapy. I just really enjoy riding and find it to be a great way to zip around, as well as escape from, the city. Think "ride up the coast for a weekend at a B&B" kind of thing if you're comfortable with it. Don't worry, I also have a car.

Fixing anything.

Improvising.

Figuring it out.

Making ice cubes.

Getting out of town for the weekend and doing something random with little or no plan.

Relaxing. Chilling. Spooning. Listening.

Solving problems, from emotional ones to that weird noise your car makes.

I think I'm good at showing my partner what she really means to me and sharing affection.

Parenting, which is my biggest passion and greatest challenge.

Easy Rider, Napoleon Dynamite, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, LOTR, Lonesome Dove, Caddyshack (how 'bout a Fresca?). I recently watched "No Country for Old Men" and when it ended I said out loud, "hey, wait, what the fuck?" which is a sign of a truly good movie to me.

Netflix roped me in and I may need to get into some sort of rehab program. However, I'm all caught up on Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and I recently set off on Mad Men, which already has me wanting to do my hair better and get a briefcase.

Really great burgers and other red meat-related dishes. Pub-style fish & chips. Good veggie food. Not into sushi, but if I like you enough I can pretend. Train me!

Richard Feynman, Jon Krakauer, Carl Hiaasen. Just finished "Packing for Mars" so satisfy my nerdy side and "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and the Hunger Games trilogy to satisfy my pop-culture-y side. I just wrote my high school English teacher asking for a reading list, so I can read the classics for pleasure instead of under duress this time around (update: holy crap he gave me a list that's going to keep me busy for years!).

I have a cat. I say it's for the kids, but I love her and cuddle with her when nobody's looking. Her name is Lulu, and she may just end up being my life partner from here on out unless you people step it up.
