My self-summary
Sup. I am a bit of a nerd. I am good at using computers but I don't build them or know how to repair them. I get excited about nerdy things all the time, but that hardly begins to describe me. In addition to being a nerd I am very competitive and naturally athletic. So if you ever play any sport against me, don't be surprised when I don't go easy on you. Nothing personal, I am just competitive like that. I have played one sport or another my whole life so I tend to stay pretty active. However, I am not on the go constantly. I do enjoy my down time spent reading, watching television or a movie (or two), and napping. I'd like to say I am the perfect blend of nerd and macho, but that would just be a lie. And how would that be a good start to things? I'm close though. I am also funny at random moments and I think I am more clever than I am despite incontrovertible proof to the opposite. I cannot tell a story to save my life. Seriously. It is painful.
What I’m doing with my life
I am putting my Masters degree to good work by doing something that is completely unrelated to the reason I got my degree. Currently I am working on the publishing side of advertising managing a team of cool people who do a good job of putting up with my wise cracks and lame jokes. When I'm not working I am reading, running, cooking, grabbing a drink, trying to win at pub trivia, making travel plans, attempting to teach myself to play piano, talking a little too excitedly about Game of Thrones or whatever new Marvel movie is coming out, or just hanging out with friends.
I’m really good at
Procrastinating. I've got that whole walking thing mastered. Spelling. Being unable to answer these questions seriously. Cooking. Reading. Uhhh...PowerPoint? Excel. Yeah, Excel. I'm really good at that and totally unashamed of it.
The first things people usually notice about me
When I have a beard, people probably notice how red my beard is. It's the viking blood in my veins.

When I don't have a beard, how much I look like American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis sans pho-hawk and beat boxing skills.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This is a really tough question to answer, but here is a sampling.

Books: A Song of Ice and Fire, Kingkiller Chronicles, Brave New World, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (or just about anything by Murakami), Mistborn, Stormlight Archive, Born to Run, Moonwalking with Einstein, Blacksad, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I read a wide variety.

Movies: Anything Bill Murray, Short Term 12, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Sword of Doom, Bob le Flambeur, Manhattan, 40-Year-Old Virgin, Anchorman, The Big Lebowski, Charade, Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Ip Man, Zombieland, Wayne's World, and so many more.

Shows: White Collar, Grimm, The Mentalist, Community, Archer, The Walking Dead, New Girl, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, South Park, Game of Thrones, Dexter, Futurama, The Venture Bros., Luther (John Luther might be the ultimate badass), Sherlock, The Newsroom, Breaking Bad, Perception, Downton Abbey (I still haven't figured out why this show is interesting, but it is), The Blacklist, Almost Human, Rubicon (I wish there was more than one season).

Music: The Black Keys, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, David Bowie, Elton John, Gorillaz, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Lumineers, Jack White, Alabama Shakes, Piebald, Queen, Tom Waits, The Stone Foxes, Little Hurricane, Minus the Bear, The Royalty, Wolfmother, The Belle Brigade. I'm not picky. I like most music. It seems like the popular radio stations stopped playing really good music a while ago.

Food: I love food. Except mushrooms. I am irrationally grossed out by mushrooms. The gills under the crown freak me out for some reason. I don't trust them.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order: Books, Family, Friends, a pair of running shoes, Music, Travel
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'm doing with my life. That and food. Actually I probably think about food more than anything.
On a typical Friday night I am
Comatose from a long work week. Managing people can be draining. If I'm not passed out on my couch, I'm out with friends grabbing dinner, drinks, and/or watching some live music. Or reading, watching netflix or catching up on the shows I DVR'd but couldn't get to during the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My dog outsmarted me one time. It is funny to think about now. Let's just say he is a little con artist and a thief. I was really enjoying that croissant...
