I am just your average 30 year old guy living in NYC. Originally from small-town midwest, (though I grew up on a beach....) I have settled here for the time being. I went to a state school, then an Ivy league for grad school, though I sometimes wonder if that makes me smart or not - especially when the Sallie Mae bill arrives, and I remember I work in the arts.....

I have an unhealthy fascination with ellipses and hyphens when writing and chatting/IMing. Perhaps I am always trying to say things without actually saying them?

I tend to be very honest, but never cruel.... well, not intentionally cruel.

Right now... living. One day at a time, but I keep a smile on my face.

Specifically, I work for an architectural consulting firm for performing arts centers.... It takes up a lot of my time, but I try to have a life... sorta. Perhaps that is what this is all about - trying to branch out. I also free-lance design and music direct when I can... and have been known to do some pick-up dance accompaniment (on the piano).

Being positive and giving advice... well, perhaps I am not, but people seem to keep asking me.

I can be incredibly charming and "work a room" like nobody's business.... but up close, I can be very shy.... especially if I am into you. :)

I have been told my eyes and eyebrows... but probably my dry humor. It gets me into a lot of trouble. I also get described as intense - though I never know if that is meant as a compliment or a slight.

OH, and I smile a lot. Someone once described me as the guy who would flirt with the Pepsi machine if I thought it would give me something for free.... I don't think that is fair though - I flirt it with those damn machines whether they give me something or not.

I don't read nearly as much as I think I am supposed to. I do occasionally escape from life with a good airport novel (like Clive Cussler or something), or a non-fiction something or other.

I do enjoy television on occasion - House, Weeds, TopChef, Family Guy, South Park, GG (the original one, thanks... hah)

I am pretty eclectic with movies. Everything from crazy old comedies (Murder By Death, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World) to your basic romantic comedy... to even the more heady stuff.... some action (Hunt for Red October, James Bond - except Lazenby... and that weanie Dalton) It depends on my mood, and who I am with. I have a large DVD collection - and love curling up and watching one.... alone or with a friend.

I am generally willing to try new food, but if I don't like it... I probably won't try it again. haha. Ethiopian, Indian, or a nice juicy hamburger - all good in my book.

1) Friends/family/significant other/people to hug.
2) a nice, soft bed to sleep in.
3) soda (it's my big vice)
4) the ability to go and sit and watch puppies playing
5) Some item that tells me what's happening in the outside world (NY times online, or hard copy or something of that sort
6) a piano around somewhere

these damn profile things... ugh. Why is it so difficult to talk about one's self sometimes?

but seriously, I think a lot about where I want to be, and how I want to go about getting there. I still feel young, and have the world in front of me - so I have to figure that all out. The worst thing in life would to be stuck doing something I really hate.

I also think alot about how I can get out and travel more - I always enjoy it, but I never seem to get away. Perhaps I need a travel buddy... is that you?

Might be out with some friends - something very chill though, and quiet. Or, I could be sitting at home enjoying a movie.

I have been known to enjoy a nice dance club/bar... but I am generally the wall-flower at those things. Don't think I am not having fun though....

I seem to attract closet cases... seriously, I have like a whole room dedicated to toaster ovens.... I wish I could trade some of them in for a washer/dryer pair or something.....
