My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hrm, summaries were always something I had trouble doing in school. It would be better for all of us if you directed your attention to the prompts below.

(I'm sure I'll expand on this stuff eventually but tonight is election night and I think I'll go pay attention to that now.)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm working on a PhD. A friend's uncle asked me what kind of work that led to, I responded "the 'un' kind."
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Failing at things and being really stubborn. Those two things usually add up to eventual success so I'm ok with them.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My gentle giant qualities or my viking-like appearance. Right now the beard is a bit short for viking, but after a few drinks my heritage comes through.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Joe Ledger Series; The Dark Tower; The Necroscope; On Bullshit; The Nightwatch Series; anything from H.P. Lovecraft; The Walking Dead; Great old school sci-fi/dystopian lit (Fahrenheit 451; 1984, etc).

Music: Metal (mostly Melodic Death and Folk Metal); Blues (especially a dirty southern harmonica); Baroque; Tom Waits and Son of Dave.

Movies: Das Experiment; any Danny Boyle movie; any David Lynch movie; any Darren Aronofsky movie; Moon; Horror flicks (not a huge fan of slashers, not squeamish enough); Sci-fi stuff (preferably not the "my aliens are badder than that guy's" variety).

Shows: Breaking Bad; The Walking Dead; The Killing; Dexter.

Food: Ethiopian; Greek; Indian; Canadian (what ever the hell that actually means); Chinese; Japanese.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My Computers: I need them to work and to keep in touch with friends from the old days.

My Books: I forget things so I need to look them up. Books are handy for that.

Pants: Without pants I wouldn't be able to leave my apartment and that's important to me. Pants also have pockets which make for easy storage.

My Instruments: I play the trumpet, guitar, and harmonica. Right now I'm focusing on my harmonica.

That's only four but if I discover two things during the course of my day I'll add them.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Indie game development, going to other planets, writing and art. Oh yeah, my research. I suppose that should have come first but oh well.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I had a wicked man crush on MacGyver as a kid and I think Jack Layton's stache is rad.
