My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a nerd. I read sci-fi and fantasy books and comics, I watch anime, I play trading card games, tabletop roleplaying games, and video games, I write long-form fiction for fun, and I've been working on finishing a combined Electrical Engineering and Mathematics degree. If that makes you think that I'd be fun to be around, then you're probably the kind of person I'd find fun to be around as well!

It probably means you're also a nerd. Which is a good thing.

I'm a mathematical utilitarian; I think The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect describes an ideal utopia. The Principia Discordia is probably the most enlightening philosophical text I have ever read.

Artistically, to get an image of me, throw Alan Moore, Erik Satie, Marcel Duchamp and Neil Gaiman into a blender, then apply the gross, bloody paste liberally to a 12" by 16" white canvas.

Here follows some assorted trivia about me.
• The first two bookmarks on my bookmark toolbar are Google Translate and a Thesaurus.
• I wrote a web-based novel that ended up reasonably popular. There is a lot of swearing in it.
• I have never broken a bone in my body.
• I have an fear of sharp and pointy objects, specifically near my face.
• I never ended up getting a pen license at school but use pens regularly. Please do not tell the police.
• I went to Japan once and broke the law. Please do not tell the police.
• There is a certain band from the United Kingdom I dislike. Please do not tell The Police. Because it's not them.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working on finishing my degree at UoN, watching Yale's online lecture series, and writing novels and short stories that may never see the light of day.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Illuminatus! Trilogy, the Ciaphas Cain series, After Dark, 1Q84, The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect, Permutation City, Good Omens... a lot of other things. Murakami's good. That's the new standard author to be pretentious about, right? At least it's a step up from Orwell.

Comics: Transmetropolitan, Watchmen, Chew, The Umbrella Academy, The Manhattan Projects

Webcomics: Questionable Content, Chainsawsuit, Gunshow, XKCD, MS Paint Adventures, The Last Halloween, Dresden Codak, and a crapload of others. I always enjoy finding out about more. I guess Atomic Robo belongs in here now as well.

Movies: Pulp Fiction (and by corollary, anything by Tarantino), Inception, Seven Psychopaths, The Men Who Stare At Goats, A Scanner Darkly, Flying High! (a.k.a. Airplane!), The Usual Suspects, 12 Angry Men

Television: eh firefly was okay I guess

Anime: Baccano!, Durarara!, Evangelion, Gunbuster/Diebuster, FLCL, and Time of Eve. Miyazaki's stuff too, of course. Less briefly, for my MyAnimeList page, click here.

Video Games: Team Fortress 2, Bioshock, Braid, Valkyria Chronicles, Saint's Row series, Dark Souls, Thomas Was Alone, Faster Than Light, Dishonored, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Fez, Monaco, Antichamber, Eversion, Hotline Miami, The Stanley Parable, The World Ends With You. For my Steam account, click here.

Music: C2C, Justice, Lemaitre, Pendulum, Porter Robinson, System Of A Down, Panic! At The Disco, Yuksek, Tristam, The Prodigy, Nightwish, Monarchy, Imagine Dragons, Hollywood Undead, Gordon Giltrap. I will often go on music binges and find obscure artists that nobody has heard of, contrasting to me having no idea about popular music at all. Sundance is an amazing band you might not have heard of. Daft Punk is probably the best band of the modern era.

Food: No strong likes, no strong aversions, no allergies. I eat meat, but look forward to the day we can vat-grow the stuff. I enjoy variety more than anything; Japanese, Chinese and Indian foods are normally pretty good in that regard.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
A Computer, Internet Access, Essentials for Continuing Existence, Video Games, a big ol' pile of Books, and Undead ServitorsFriends.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Well, Wednesday night is Magic/Card Game night, Thursday night is Tabletop game playing night... I don't have anything regular scheduled on Fridays, so I'm normally just playing video games or writing.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're cool. From my profile, you should pretty much know what cool entails for me. That, or tell me to watch a thing, or listen to a thing, or read a thing. If they are good things then we can talk about those things and be horribly pretentious, maybe?
