That eharmony commercial keeps telling me that one in five relationships now start online, so I figured I would give it a try. Online dating that is. Not eharmony. I am far to jaded and cynical to pay for passive aggressive conservative Christian women to silently judge me. More power to you if that is your thing, but being a politically involved liberal in Texas is already frustrating enough as it is.

I like good books, good beer, and good conversation. It's a wonderful combination of the finer things in life, and if you agree we are likely to get along splendidly. I am also kind of a nerd. Not in the socially inept sweaty malcontent kind of way, more in the totally willing to geek out over Doctor Who and Game of Thrones way.

I studied Political Science and History at Baylor University, with a decent smattering of philosophy and classical literature thrown in thanks to an honors program I was in. I spent a year with TeachforAmerica out in Phoenix before realizing that A) I was a terrible teacher and B) My 300 students did not need another terrible teacher. So here I am, back in Texas doing more schooling to pursue the dream job (more on that below).

I am working on a second bachelors (because I am a masochist like that) in International Political Economy and Arabic at UTD. The life goal at the moment is to work as a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department and make a career out of giving peace and diplomacy a chance in countries that are a hair trigger away from imploding.

Epic bull-shitting. A degree in political science and history will do that to a person.

I swear pandora is making me a hipster.

Movies: I basically love anything and everything Stanley Kubrick ever touched. If that doesn't make me a cinema snob, then I am not sure what would. If you are really into lists I guess I could say Fight Club, City of Lost Children, Persopolis, Paradise Now, Requiem for a Dream, The Shining, Paths of Glory, Apocalypse Now, Oldboy, Dr. Strangelove, Airplane, Monty Python and the Holy grail, Defamation, etc.

Shows: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Community, Walking Dead, Mad Men, Newsroom, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Sherlock, West Wing, Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, everything Joss Whedon touches.

Food: I used to be a picky eater, luckily a semester backpacking through Europe broke me of that habit. So now I am up for basically anything.
