My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I do not have a wonderfully witty and interesting opening comment. My apologies. Please insert one here in place of this silly and pointless opening paragraph. (You should then share this witticism with me so I can co-opt it and claim it as my own.) ... On with the summary of me!

First, and probably most obvious, I'm a huge geek. That aside, I'm much like many other people. I enjoy being entertained, good company, and meeting new people. But.... what sets me apart? Well, I like to think of myself as an extremely loyal, kind, and conscientious person. It isn't always easy to earn the label of "friend" from me, but once you have I make it a point to always be there for you. I take no small amount of pride in being the person that you can call on when you need help... or being the person helping even when you didn't ask for it. Basically, I'm just a big Eagle Scout. (And I really am too!)

I also have an intense curiosity and love of learning. It's one of the reasons I'm still taking classes at 30. Acquiring new skills and information is something I've always enjoyed. My various distraction-based interests sometimes keep my nose out of the text books though. This curiosity also leads me to greatly enjoy debate - often for it's own sake. I have spent many a late night hashing out the topic du jour with my friends. (Luckily, most of my friends tend to enjoy this as well, so it works out.)

Also, I really like parentheticals (in case you haven't noticed).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I recently achieved my goal of becoming a professional geek and am so far truly enjoying my job for the first time in, well... ever, I think. I'm also still going to school, despite having 2 Associates degrees already. Maybe I'll even go for that Bachelor's degree someday while I'm at it.

I don't have too many specific long term plans - the ones I made a few years ago are coming to fruition, and it's time to reevaluate and plan what comes next. While figuring out more specific plans, I'm just generally trying to create opportunities for personal growth. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone, as they say, so I'm trying to push the edges a bit.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm good at organizing things and designing systems/processes. I'm fairly handy with computers, though there's always new things to learn. I also like to think I make for a good friend. And what I'm not genuinely good at, I'm usually good at faking it. ;)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm tall..... Apparently being big intimidates and impresses other people or something.

I honestly have no idea what the second thing they notice about me might be.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: As a geek, I have definite sci-fi/fantasy tendencies. Robert Heinlein is one of my favorite authors, and some of my favorite books include The Name of the Wind, Snowcrash, 1984, and Ender's Game. In the past year, I read Neuromancer for the first time and finally got around to The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss - both were awesome!

Comics: Make Mine Marvel! (Mostly...)

Movies: Again, sci-fi is a big influence here, with movies like Star Wars and The Matrix high on my list, as well as the super hero movies of late. I also love the work of Kevin Smith and Mel Brooks, and many movies from American Beauty to Army of Darkness would make it on to my favorites list.

Shows: I enjoy TV too. Pretty much I'm a big fan of fiction and storytelling, really. Current favorites include Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, and Sons of Anarchy. Past favorites include Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek (especially TNG and DS9), and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Music: Lately, I've been listening to a lot of EDM (especially electro, dubstep, and house). But I still have serious love for the punk rock and 3rd Wave Ska I've listened to for years. Other favorite genres are Swing (classic and revival), mainstream rock, and alternative rock (especially 90's alt).

Food: Some favorites include Sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, Italian, and steakhouse fare. There's a wide variety of food I love, and I also enjoy seeking out or being introduced to new foods.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
In no particular order: my love life (or the lack thereof at the moment), computers, self improvement, politics, philosophy, society, and whatever shiny, blinking gadget happens to be distracting me at the moment... among a great many other things.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Going out dancing or to a concert, or possibly staying home enjoying something suitably geeky.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a bit of pack rat. Which, among other things, has led to me collecting 4 TVs (I only use one of them), every paycheck stub I've ever received, and probably a few more clothes than I can safely justify.

Heck, even if none of those things are true, I think you should take a chance and send me a message anyway. :)
