I am young at heart, sarcastic, and easygoing.
My Self-Summary
I'm not afraid to admit my mind is a few years behind the rest in
maturity. It is, however countered by a healthy dose of intellect.
Simple at heart, and driven in life. I'm a walking oxymoron.
What I’m doing with my life
Lecturing at Northwestern University. Somehow I convinced them to
let me teach kids who are at most 4 years younger than me. Probably
one of the least likely career paths I would have predicted a few
years ago, but strangely I love it.
I’m really good at
Building and fixing stuff. Yes, that is a challenge. Driving too,
or so I like to think.
The first things people usually notice about me
Either the eyes or the hair, especially hair if it's right before I
get a haircut. Then it's all spikey.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I love reading social science and economics books, like Malcolm
Gladwell authors like him. I also fall within the nerd category, so
I can lump in sci-fi movies with your stereotypical action guy
movies. I'm a classic/alternative rock kind of guy, but I can
really just listen to anything, even talk radio and country. I
think being a stickler on radio stations is just annoying. I'll eat
pretty much anything once, the spicier the better.
The six things I could never do without
I could really do without most things, even though an iPhone is
addicting like crack. Here's me being materialistic:
1. Phone
2. Laptop/Internet
3. My (first) Car
And the 3 things you can fix 90% of everything with:
4. Hammer
5. Duct Tape
6. WD-40.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics, and Mechanical Design. I'm a news junkie, so I'm always
keeping up to date on the zoo that is politics. I teach design, so
it's always up there nagging my brain.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, drinking a beer or 12. When that's not an
option, hanging at home watching a movie is always possible.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I still own legos. I swear, they make little kids into engineers.
You should message me if
You like someone seems to be some sort of oxymoron. I tend to
contradict myself with outwards appearances, but I'm much different
than I appear. You should also give me a shout if you don't like to
constantly be around people who are just like you. Of course, it's
something to accept with a job you love, but I'm always looking for
people different than me. Diversity over monotony.
