I am gentle, patient, and reliable.
My Self-Summary
I'm a driven IT professional that likes to have fun in the off
hours. I take my job seriously and am in bed roughly on time most
nights. I can stay out all night on the weekends but don't do so
every weekend. I have a five year old son that is a great source of
joy in my life. I share custody. I'm often described as laid back
but I'm up for most anything. I'm a rather traditional man, despite
some of my interests. I listen to
Industrial music and am
involved in different scenes, but I like the simple things in life.
Curling up next to a fire, quiet nights at home, watching
movies and
cuddling. I'm in a bit of a
transformation now so I'm not sure how well any summary of me will
remain valid. In the past, I've always gravitated to energetic
women to drag me out of the house. Although lately, I'm having a
really hard time finding people to keep up with me. Boy, is that
backwards. Also, I've generally dated roughly 3 years younger than
me, but I've always been quite mature for my age and that is a
pattern I'd like to break. I don't want to play games, I'm as real
as it gets. I'm relentlessly honest and open.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an IT Consultant, so what I do changes every few months but I
keep busy with high-level PC management. My current position is
with a massive financial firm, providing support for market data
feed servers. I've done an array of server administration, software
repackaging and deployment, and various other nerdy IT jobs. It has
always come naturally to me and it provides a living.
I’m really good at
Listening. I'm patient, interested, calm, and steady. I am not
easily annoyed or frustrated, I have about the longest fuse before
getting angry known to man. I recharge doing the simple things from
listening to music to watching movies. I'm involved in different
scenes here locally, but I'm really an old school kind of guy. I
have traditional values and viewpoints on what a healthy
relationship should be. I'm a hopeless romantic and cherish the
simple things in life, but don't be fooled. I'm quite modern, open,
and up for anything.
The first things people usually notice about me
I really don't know. Its not that I don't have good physical
features for people to notice right away, but I either meet new
people at work or at the club. I guess the best answer I can give
is that if I'm out and about, I'm always having fun. That is what I
hope they notice first, anyway.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Unfortunately I've all but stopped reading for pleasure. I keep
telling myself if I am going to read, I need to read for work, and
get some certifications. I'm pretty passionate about movies and
will watch anything from
10 Things I Hate About
You to
White Oleander to
Ravenous to
Requiem for a
Dream and
Pi. That
should probably cover about all kinds of movies in one fell swoop.
I've been digging
Thai food a lot lately, and can't get
enough. I've had a love affair with
enchiladas for about ten years now.
I've been on a big kick about trying
new foods lately, with pleasant
results. Any suggestions? I like Industrial music (Wumpscut, Skinny
Puppy, KMFDM, 8000 others) and Downbeat (Portishead, Massive
Attack, Tricky, Cat Power) but I'm just as likely to be listening
to Top 40 while driving down the road. Another food I am passionate
about is beer. Now I don't chug 24 Natural Lights in a row but I
like to enjoy 1 or 2 full-bodied stout, porter, or ales. I enjoy
beer the way many people enjoy wine, although I'm not against
enjoying a nice bottle of wine either.
The six things I could never do without
My hairbrush, my lint roller; no I'm kidding, I have no idea. I
don't have any tangible possessions that I couldn't live without. I
use my computer a lot for everything from work-related research to
watching movies and listening music to well, typing this. Yet if my
computer died and I couldn't quickly replace it, that might be a
blessing honestly. Lately I've found the more time I spend outside
of the house, no matter what it is I'm doing, the more content I am
with everyday life.
Update: I've found a possession I can't do without; my roller
blades. Skating around Creve Coeur Park has become my new
obsession.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything! I'm the classic overly analytical shy guy. I've been
shedding my shy anti-social persona for several years now and I'm
really getting a lot better. Yet, I still analyze every situation
of every day to death. I often get swept up in political
conversations, spiritual or philosophical conversations; I don't
spend as much time doing self-discovery type thinking as I have in
the past. I'm just trying to live life while I'm here.
On a typical Friday night I am
Oh it could be anything. Out on the boat, down at the club, curled
up at home, going
bowling,
roller blading, like I said; I'm
usually down for about anything.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
My life is pretty open, I will answer virtually any question
honestly without being prodded, but I can't think of anything juicy
to volunteer here.
I don't sing in the shower, because then someone might hear me. I
only sing in the car... when not even I can hear me.
You should message me if
I don't have any prerequisites, I'm just here to talk to new
people.
