I am easily entertained, curious, and a total badass.

My Self-Summary

Hello potential acquaintances and friends. My name is Katie, et j'ai vingt ans. I tend to be quiet when you first meet me, then I just talk about weird, stupid stuff no one gets. I'm very proud of that. I love to cook, drive, sing in the shower, and jam terribly on my mandolin. The great Colin Hay of Men At Work said once, "Being high is one of those great times when you'll just strum a single chord for an hour. Then your finger slips and you hear a beautiful sound you've never heard before. A happy accident." That's pretty much how I learn to play an instrument. And to me, there's no other way.

I usually make plans at the last minute. Scheduled vacations make me sick. So if I want to go to the beach one day, I'll just go. If I have the money for it, there will be no thinking it through, no maps... just start heading east til I hit the ocean.

I love people... but mostly the nerdy ones and dudes with beards.. I like having conversations about which Ren and Stimpy episode was the best or how awesome Mario Kart is for N64.

I enjoy talking about politics, especially the topic of health care reform. I actually went to school briefly for political science but changed my mind. Hmm, what else? Mini golf is fun. I want to earn enough tickets in the Putt Putt Arcade to get this huge bag of Reese's Pieces. That is my dream. Ha. I love watching old episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark? on YouTube.

Also, I don't have a Southern accent. I may have grown up in Tennessee, but I am not a country girl. Although, I'm not a city girl, either.

And ladies, my brother flickmaker330 is on here.

What I’m doing with my life

Keeping myself from being bored.

I finally got accepted to culinary school, and I could not be more excited! Hopefully, in the not so distant future, I will, with the help of others, do great things for mankind.

I’m really good at

Exploring my surroundings.

I'm told I can make people laugh... I think I'm just goofy looking. I can cook well, and I'm still learning more and more each day. I'm learning how to play mandolin, and I hope to get a lot better soon. I'm pretty decent at playing guitar as it turns out. I've only been playing for a month, though.

I'm great at listening... and talking. I will help out my friends whenever they need me. I think these are pretty good qualities.

The first things people usually notice about me

I say awkwardly funny things and smile a lot when I'm nervous. I also smile like crazy all other times, too.

I randomly stare off into space.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Running With Scissors, Dry, Magical Thinking, A Wolf at the Table, The Bell Jar, Perks of Being A Wallflower

My favorite movies include Swingers, A Clockwork Orange, Groundhog Day, American Psycho, Office Space, The Station Agent, Star Trek movies, Dr. Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket, Amelie, American Beauty. The list goes on.

I love a variety of music: some bluegrass, Led Zeppelin, Neutral Milk Hotel, Metric, The Avett Brothers, Sufjan Stevens, Neko Case, Bright Eyes, Of Montreal, Joanna Newsom, The Strokes, Phoenix, M.I.A., Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Big Star, The National, Scout Niblett, The Dead Milkmen, Monsters of Folk, The Smiths, Children of Bodom, Dethklok, Iron & Wine, Steve Martin, Gillian Welch, Radiohead, that hip hop shit they play on the radio, Guster, Travis, Pete Yorn, Ray LaMontagne, Scott Miller, Matt & Kim, Gomez, The Bird and the Bee, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Animal Collective, William Fitzsimmons, Be Your Own Pet, Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton, Colin Hay, David Pajo, Explosions in the Sky, Modest Mouse, classic punk like the Ramones, Clash, Sex Pistols... and a lot more. The best show I've ever seen was Bonnie 'Prince' Billy at the Bijou. So amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uDlvl7jNn8 One of my favorite songs. The Indie Band Test says I'm Sonic Youth.... I totally should've been Neutral Milk Hotel.

I love green beans, mushrooms, chocolate milk, edamame, sushi, hibachi, grilled cheese, sour gummy worms, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, peach cobbler, fish tacos, wings, the deliciousness that is boba tea... I love food, but I've been eating less of it lately. Yerba Maté with honey and soy milk is yummy. I like those little cheddar rice cakes, not because they're healthy. They're delicious. There is nothing better in the world than a Mountain Dew slushie. And I like any candy that's chewy.

I'm going to add video games to this category. I've had consoles before, but my favorite is the Sega Genesis. Boogerman, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mortal Combat, and Earthworm Jim are cool games. However, I like Mario Kart 64 and Yoshi's Story for Nintendo 64.

I'll also add TV shows. I will watch pretty much anything on adultswim, especially Metalocalypse and Home Movies. Brendon Small is a badass. I love Curb Your Enthusiasm, Glee, Big Love, The Office (both American and UK versions), Extras, and King of Queens.

The six things I could never do without

1) Internet! Seriously, I'm an addict.
2) Activity partners... which I'm going to interpret as "smoking buddies"
3) Music
4) My gradually fading sanity
5) Mountain Dew slushies
6) The ability to fall in love... with a song, a phrase, pages in a book, maybe a human being if that ever happens.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The future, my friends, my job, sleep, how to deal with unpleasant people. I wish I could just get em all together and put them on a nice little farm where they can run around and be assholes to each other instead of me.

How to make my life better for myself and the people around me.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with friends either seeing a movie or just acting as goofy and weird as possible in public places. I love to sit and listen to records or watch a good flick. I try to go to concerts whenever I can, but they're usually on weeknights. I don't think musicians like to spend their Friday nights in Knoxville. Go figure.

In the fall, you can catch me outside all the time and possibly driving out to the middle of nowhere to see the colorful trees.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I put ice in my orange juice.

You should message me if

A) You're incredibly bored and want a friend to converse with.

B) You're in dire need of excitement and adventure in your life.

or

C) You want to be a guinea pig for my cooking experiments. :P
