A kinda-sorta lone wolf (and to clarify, that's what the 'L'
branded on my forehead means ;) And to clarify further, the
aforesaid 'L' word could be approximately expounded as an
"Extroverted
Introvert" or something, I dunno. Feel free to figure that out
for yourself.
I am actually quite outgoing, only when I choose to be. I do like
to keep my identity in a crowd (pretty easy, 'round these parts :),
even as I love being around people. I am mostly a stay-in guy 5-6
evenings a week. And when I go out, I am mostly satisfied by just
heading to a
small
dive and getting a drink or two, enough to head home and get a
good night's sleep (usually that's all I need, I am
VERY easy
to please/satisfy).
As for what I'm looking for, I would like to meet up with an
intelligent, attractive female for
companionship,
intelligent/idiosyncratic
conversation,
intimacy, and to be
partners-in-rhyme
towards pursuit of activities of mutual interest.
(P.S.:- In real life, I am far
less starchy than what I come
across in writing :-) When I write, I tend to shoot out fancy words
sometimes, but hell, hang with me here... I'm a-workin' on it)
I just turned 37 (mid-March), divorced 4 1/2 years back, no kids
in- or out-of-wedlock... but definitely someday. Have a roof over
my head (that I have to pay in time for), a car, a Masters Degree,
recent lay-offee (no financial worries anytime soon... mama didn't
raise THAT much of a fool ;). Nowadays, an admittedly happy life
(or, like I once, defined to a friend, I'm in a
"Rut of
Contentment" :).... but I've always been
pretty even-tempered to
begin with. Now is that a good thing? Especially in these zany
times..... I wonder.....
Initiating and Sustaining a conversation,
verbal sparring, keepin' up a
literally non-stop flow of humorous two-cents,
Music Trivia, coming up with
mighty dastardly fillers in
Mad Libs,
Recycling (ask me how little I end up
throwing into the garbage), being an
Attention whore when the mood
strikes (especially at
karaoke).
Talent wise, I am pretty good at
singing. I tend to shock strangers not
already familiar with my skillz (especially if we had a
conversation beforehand... they're like, "Dude, you don't sound
anything like you talk!!!"). I am pretty well-known in the KC
karaoke circuit.
Besides this, I tend to do above-average-okay in
sketching/doodling,
writing,
debating. I Barely get by
on
strumming a guitar, some
drums, and a few
other things I forgot.
For the general populace, it would be my Easy smile and
put-you-at-ease demeanor (unless they're feeling especially
patriotistical and are giving me the wary once-over). As far as
eligible women are concerned, it would be the oversized "Friend"
tattoo on my forehead.
(a) I no longer read novels/ books since I hardly have the time
(nor the attention span). However, I am a voracious reader of
Liberal
blogs and consider myself an independent thinker mostly (means,
I am open to any idea, just give me a
rational explanation for
your actions, belief, and thought processes, rather than try to
thump me upside the head with something that some supposedly-holy
old book says).
(b) I watch movies, almost always on DVD, more often than not a few
years (or decades) after release. That sad state is evidenced in my
tardiness is discovering
some of my current favorites... The
Big Lebowski, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Big Fish, Blues Brothers,
Shaun Of The Dead, Groundhog Day, Love Actually (all in the past
couple of years). I generally like musicals, reality/fantasy
mash-ups, buddy action flicks, Animated fantasies, Coen Brothers,
Kevin Smith... heck, even the Farrelleys can be tolerated over
beer. I do hold an affection for
exuberant black Gospel
(try 'The Fighting Temptations', 'The Ladykillers', and of course,
'The Blues Brothers'). Not that keen on creepy Horror or loony
Artsy flicks that seem to drag on for half the day within their 80
minute runtime... sorry, not willing to try THAT hard to seem
nerdy-smart :)
However, all said and done, I can sit thru pretty much anything, in
the right company. And that includes, drumroll please.... Chick
Flicks. Yaaayyyy ! There, I said it !!!
(c) Whoa. The proverbial can o' worms just got opened, eh? Well,
before I overload the okcupid server, let me refrain myself with
some generalizations while name-checking some core constituents.
First of all, I listen to most kinds of music. I could even stand
Country and Gangsta, for about 10 minutes straight. As for
preferences, I veer towards Classic Rock (think Aerosmith, Grand
Funk, Hendrix, Doobie Bros.), The Beatles (The Beatles, duhh:),
Monsters of Rock (Zeppelin/Sabbath/Purple), the 80's (Don't. even.
get. me. started.), Classic British Heavy metal (Iron Maiden, Judas
Priest), the Blues (Keb' Mo', Gatemouth Brown, Kenny Wayne
Shepherd, BB King, SRV, Cream, Yardbirds), Singer/Songwriters (Joni
Mitchell, Brice Springsteen, Alanis Morissette, Carly Simon, Neil
Young), Classic Motown (Aretha Franklin, Supremes, Temptations,
Stevie Wonder), Funk: Black & White (Sly & The Family
Stone, Parliament/Funkadelic, 311, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Grunge
(Alice In Chains, Soundgarden), Celts/Irish Rockers (Loreena
McKennitt, Enya, Hothouse Flowers, U2), Weirdos (Gwar, Primus,
Hayseed Dixie, Mojo & Skid, Mr. Yankovic, The Bloodhound
Gang).
(d) I have always been the most non-fussy eater, my dear mom got
pretty lucky in that dept when I was growing up. When I eat out, I
can pretty much do it all, except one place, whose food did gross
me out bad (they are no longer in business, go figure.). I do cook
(and clean up after myself), and I am fairly decent at it. A major
jones for Indian Food remains the last major bastion of my
Indian-ness. But I'll be happy to quaff anything from Thai to Mac
N'Cheese, to culinary "experiments".
Music (seriously, I can't do without it), (Any) type of reading /
info / knowledge enhancing material, The Internet, sleep,
Air+Water+Food (well, duuuh..), Love & affection (if you've
ever been in love, you know what you lose once it's gone)
A LOT of time? On nothing, I guess. For a little time? A LOT of
things.
If not out hanging at a
karaoke bar or visiting with
friends, or checking out live bands, I'll be home, working on
stuff, doing chores, listening to music, learning to sing a new
song, or watching a DVD, and sleeping off a stressful work-week.
Despite any outward impression I give with regards to my Confidence
level and extroversion, I can't make a decent "First Move" to save
my damn life.
Now, as far as responding to a First move from you? Let's just say
that I'd probably be one of the easiest guys to approach, talk to
and get acquainted with.
You like what you read, and would like to know more. Or you just
can't wait to tell me what a great dude and/or dipshit I am.
