My Self-Summary
I think because of my practical upbringing, I tend to live a bit
conservatively yet I appreciate the quirky and unconventional and I
am open to difference. I love to travel and I have lived in a number
of states--Hawaii, Texas, California. I also spent two years
teaching English with The Peace Corps in Africa. I've also traveled
to parts of Europe, Thailand, and India. I love good conversation and
hanging out with people who make me laugh. If I had my choice of
where to be right now...I would be trekking in New Mexico or Utah.
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently working in higher education administration and
nearing completion of a doctoral degree, the combination of which
almost leaves me brain dead! Please send brain candy!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
The only books I read these days are textbooks...but I love
Flannery
O'Connor because her writing reminds me so much of the
environment I grew up in. I also love Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer
because it reminds me of Paris. I also like reading Taoist/Zen
poetry and writings for their clarity/ambiguity and quiet
focus--the poet Thich Nat Hanh is a favorite. If
you can find the thread that links these...please let me know. For
movies, I like the classics...All About Eve...My Man Godfrey...The African
Queen...The Women, etc. Those black and white movies could be so
sexy! As for music...I tend to think in pictures and not words, so
I don't like a lot of (English) words in my music--except for jazz
from the 40s & 50s--very romantic! I like trance music, tribal
music, Chinese music, instrumental music and Indian (as in India)
music etc...
The six things I could never do without
Since I was in the Peace Corps in Africa, I have
learned that you can live without most things, except other people
(and water..and maybe some cous-cous).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I will do when I win the lottery! Actually, I'm pondering what
I will write my dissertation on--I hope it isn't crap! I hope it
gets published!
On a typical Friday night I am
