I am tangible, sentient, and awesome.

My Self-Summary

I am a university student currently serving as president of the local AIESEC chapter, while working part-time as well. I am pursuing a degree in Arts and Science, as I've never been able to choose between the two, and I've always been good at both. My main focuses will be French and Biology/Zoology. I like to travel within my budget and read until the wee hours of the morning. Money's been tight lately, so unfortunately I haven't been able to explore as much as I'd like. I'm really hoping to attend a conference in Portugal in the autumn, so I'm saving my money and applying for grants. I can procrastinate like nobody's business yet swiftly complete tasks; I just need to have the right motivation. I like to spend time with friends but I need to be alone to re-energize myself. My personal time is something I value very much, and I sometimes have trouble explaining my need to "do nothing" to my friends. I am intelligent and witty, though I sometimes stumble when trying to communicate with others.

What I’m doing with my life

Finishing school and being heavily involved in a student leadership and exchange organization on campus that has really helped to motivate me into action, as well as inspire me to do great things in life. I took some time off school for a few years, so I'm making sure every course I take now counts. As nice as it would be, I don't want to be a student for the rest of my life. That being said, I'm not in a rush to join the corporate world either. I'm not sure yet where I will end up.

I’m really good at

Answering questions and helping people. I'm a sponge for knowledge, especially the useless kind, so people often come to me for the answer to just about anything. I used to swim competitively, so I'm still relatively good at that; I'm not sure about "really good" anymore, though. I'm excellent at being picky about the details. I'm seriously considering storming my campus newspaper office and demanding they instill me as supreme emperor. But I'll settle for copy editor. Or even a corner with a stool, as long as I can proofread all of their articles before they go to print.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm either laughing or walking quickly. I enjoy my time with my friends and colleagues, yet I'm often on the go from one place to another. Usually it's a combination of the two. I also resort to humour when I am uncomfortable, which can often lead to a deterioration of the situation. It used to be that I made frequent "Your Mom" jokes, but I've been very good at slowly phasing those out, much to the relief of my friends. If you stick around a bit longer, you'll notice I'm quite passive aggressive. I am getting better at dealing with confrontation, though.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

a) Beautiful Joe by Margaret Marshall Saunders
b) Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, C.R.A.Z.Y.
c) Travis, Belle & Sebastian, Guster
d) mango, pineapple, curry

The six things I could never do without

1. Fresh water: preferably from a tap, as there is no pristine mountain stream within five days walking distance. I don't like Brita water, and I'd prefer not to drink bottled water. I carry a water bottle around with me where ever I go.

2. Good food: I'm a pescetarian for sustainability reasons, though to simplicity I generally tell people I'm a vegetarian. My gastrointestinal system doesn't like chocolate anymore, which sucks for my taste buds, and its beginning to dislike sugar and other processed foods as well. If my mouth doesn't mutiny, I might cut out all junk food from my diet in a year or so.

3. Intellectual stimulation: my brain needs exercise more than my body does, though I've been neglecting to do much physical activity aside from walk everywhere. I can't handle mindless prattle, and will often just walk away. I'm been doing brain teasers and mind puzzles for years, and they help to keep my mind sharp, though lack of sleep seems to be counterproductive to this effort.

4. International exposure: because I've never left this continent (yet!) and cannot travel as readily as I can, I try and meet as many people from different places as I can. It really helps to keep my life in perspective, as well as keep me entertained for hours on end listening to their stories.

5. Cozy habitation: I don't need a fancy pad, but I do need a place to call my own. My dream house is a nice house in a wooded valley overlooking a lake, but I'll settle for a bachelor apartment in a bustling metropolis and be just fine.

6. Sun on my face: it's amazing how much being out in the sunshine can brighten my day. Maybe its the vitamin D, maybe its psychological, but it works.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What my next steps will be. I'm constantly changing my life plan, though some basic elements remain the same (i.e. travelling... somewhere). I don't know what my job will be, or where I will live, but I know I'm going to enjoy it. Or about how much work I have to do, and how much I don't want to do it. Or about how long it is until i get to see my far-flung friends again.

On a typical Friday night I am

Lately, its back to working in the evening, despite not wanting to. I'd rather be out for dinner with friends. This usually leads to me coming home and staying in, as I have to go back to work in the morning. However, it looks like I might finally get weekends off this summer, so maybe my Friday nights will become more exciting!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people-eater that frolics around in an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny, yellow polka-dot speedo.

You should message me if

You want to regale me with your stories about all of the wonderful places you've travelled, or you want to offer me a place to stay for when I do my own travelling, or you want an old-fashioned pen pal, complete with paper and a pen! If your from TKEP or AIESEC that's cool too. Or if you're local and you want to meet up.
